I just had to see what everyone thinks about this movie. Everyone I talk to, either hasn't seen it or didn't remember it. However, I think this is John Cusak's best performance to date, and is the perfect dark comedy. The entire concept of the movie was great, and no other actor but Cusak could have pulled it off. It pulled all the aspects of comedy, drama, and romance into an awesome package. The supporting performances by Minnie Driver, Jeremy Piven, Joan Cusak, and Dan Akroyd were just awesome. The movie always kept pace and there either something to laught at or some killing going on. It offered memorable scenes, like the two assasins blowing the shit out of everything in the convient store. To me this is one of my greatest movies of all time. Well, played out of screen, very well acted, and just an overall great movie.

10/10

Its a very cool flick. I feel like Lucky Number Slevin tried to copy the charism of it. GPB certainly did the fast-talkin, snappy dialogue better.

7/10 from me.

It's been a long time since I've seen this movie but I remember it being good but not great.

BTW, isn't this in the wrong forum?

GROSSE POINTE BLANK is one of my favorite films of all time. It has the perfect combination of dark humor, violence, and romance and has a killer soundtrack to boot. 10/10.

I agree great Cusack flick. One of the more underrated 90's flicks out there. Akroyd almost steals the show, he plays a great wacked out hitman. My fave scene would have to be the locker room brawl, with the English Beat's mirror in the bathroom playing. Love that jam.

Ditto . . . to all of the posts. The story in itself is freakin' awesome and perfect for a dark comedy: an assassin going through some kind of identity crisis goes to his high school reunion - I laugh everytime I think of it. John Cusack is great, Minnie Driver is charming, and who knew Dan Akroyd could pull off a villain. And practically any movie with Jeremy Piven in it is cool in my book - particularly this one.

8/10

The hidden gem of 1997.

Great acting, snappy dialogue and a killer soundtrack. Without doubt Cusack's finest hour and one of 1997's top five movies.

Ditto to everything you said.

As far as supporting cast I also enjoyed the few scenes Alan Arkin had but Piven was the best.

I hated this movie the first time I saw it, mostly because the rapid-fire dialogue went right over my head... that was back in 97, I only recently watched it again and found it absolutely hilarious.

Great story, soundtrack, and awesome cast and great dialogue!!

"Popcorn!"

Dark comedy with a superb cast and some extremely well-written dialogue. John Cusack's best, in my opinion, although High Fidelity comes close.

Awesome awesome film.

I love all John Cusak's films but this is his best.

My brother is more or less the re-incarnation of John Cusak. Looks kinda like him but talks abd acts very much like him.

Not my favorite Cusack film, but it's quite entertaining nevertheless.

A solid 7/10, and on a good day, an 8/10
