I don't know if you guys know about this movie but it's amazing, it's a taiwanese (think so) horror flick on the same vibe as The Ring but much creepier and scarier, it involves photograpes of the dead.

I have been a very big fan of Asian horror (or J:Horror) for a while now and I thought I'd seen the best of what's out there. And although you cannot beat 'A Tale Of Two Sisters' as a complex, unnerving masterpiece, I will wholeheartedly say that 'Shutter' isn't just one of the most frightening Asian horror films I've seen, but one of the most frightening horror films I've seen full stop.

The basis of it's story is nothing new to this genre (a creepy, long-haired woman seeks revenge from beyond the grave) but whereas 'Ju-On', and to a larger extent 'Ringu', left things very much open ended, 'Shutter' has a rounded story that comes together perfectly and a shock-horror ending the likes I haven't encountered since the original 'Carrie' (and here it is executed infinitely better).

I cannot recommend this film enough to ANY fans of horror. I promise, you will NOT be disappointed.

Watched this one all the way through this afternoon (I had an aborted attempt about six months ago...it was late at night and the movie was seriously freaking me out). This was one intense ghost story.

The set pieces scattered throughout the movie were some of the most expertly staged and downright terrifying i've seen in some time. Given how familiar I am with the entire Asian horror oevre the fact that Shutter managed to seriously unnerve me with it's series of, dare I say, cliched scare scenes is testement to how cleverly handled these set pieces were. I was also very pleased by how plentiful these moments were. This wasn't a movie that built gradually from small scares to a big crescendo of terror at the end. It was more like a series of mini crescendos puncuated by the occasional full on orchestra of fear. The end result was a movie that kept me constantly on edge and with my finger hovering over the stop button just in case it got a bit too much.

For fans of Asian horror looking for something to match previous masterpieces like The Ring, A Tale Of Two Sisters and The Eye...look no further than Shutter. You'll never look at a polaroid camera the same way again. 5 out of 5

When it came out in theatres here I was debating wether I should see it or not. Too bad I didn't end up seeing it, I suddenly am very interested.

I hope that I haven't built it up too much. I could imagine someone who is somewhat jaded by the similarity of many of the Asian horror movies that have arrived since The Ring could come out of this movie feeling like they had just witnessed a series of tired cliches. Sure it's a cliched movie but it's so well executed that was able to set aside such criticisms with ease. Others might not be able to do this.

Well, Shutter is not Taiwanese movie but it's a Thai film (coz I live i Thailand). It was so popular here when it was first released about 2 years ago and the buzzes were everywhere. Most people that I talk about this film said there might be some cliches in it but it's a fresh take from J or K horror movies we got a lot that year. I heard that the remake is underway but I'm not sure what really happened because the "remake" news started to fade out.

Heh, saw this about eight months ago. One of the best, as it's known, 'Ring Style' movies I've seen. Some reeeeeeally creepy scenes in this one, the ending was a little silly but I thought it was rather hilarious and loved it :)
