Good movie suggestion

Can anyone suggest a really good horror movie to me? Maybe something rare or classic? It seems hard to find anything good now a days but then again Im very picky too. Gore isn't all important to me, a good story, characters and atmosphere are.

I saw a movie called The Prophecy (from 1979) which took my by the balls so to speak.
It had atmosphere, great acting, great directing (Frankenheimer) and a good story and as a kid I saw the VHS at the videostore but never bothered to rent it, and saw it for the first time a couple of weeks ago...
I highly recommend it :)
