I just watched TCM 2. Are the Sawyers(or w/e) just like Jason and Michael Myers when it comes to coming back from the dead for each sequel?

I think with TCM2, Leatherface just found a new "family". Chop-Top wasn't the hitchiker. He was Leatherfaces other brother. Grandpa was probably the same one from the original.
Leatherface has a new family in 3&4 as well.

Leatherface didn't get a new family in this one. The only new family member is Chop-Top Sawyer, who is the twin brother of the Hitchhiker from the first one (notice the identical scar on their face) and the reason he wasn't in the first one was because he was in Vietnam at the time (which is why he rants about Charlie and such, also the reason he has a metal plate in his head) and the body he carries around is the Hitchhiker's rotted corpse (real name is Nubbins Sawyer, as Drayton calls him), still in the same clothes as when he died.
I love this film and it's the last "true" TCM in my eyes because TCM 3 was a direct sequel to the original TCM but I think it sucked, and don't even get me started on TCM 4, or even the remake for that matter. So, the Sawyer Family meet their one and only ultimate demise at the end of this film.

let me start of by saying that i LOVE the ORIGINAL TCM....
i thought TCM 2 was one of the worst films i've ever seen... i hated every moment of it... i hate tobe hooper for ruining the great character of Leatherface, by making him a love sick retard that dances like a fool and "pelvic thrusts" his chainsaw... i hated the rushed, choppy, no-sense ending.... i even hated dennis hopper... i completely understand that mr. hooper wanted to take a "different" approach and make it a "fun, campy" horror movie... but that's no excuse... i'm glad his career is now in the shitter, he deserves it after making this shit...

growing up, I never enjoyed TCM2.
But around 7-8 months ago I did a trade for a lot of dvd's and randomly picked TCM2 as one of them, and when I re-watched it, I friggin' loved it. Twist of fate I guess you could call it. Now its the best in the franchise in my opinion (yes,i'm going as far to say its better then the original in entertainment for me personally).

I agree it does kick loads of ass, but I still think the original is better.

When I was a kid, I loved it. But watching it now I fuckin' hate it. It's not as bad as TCM 4 but still bad. It's an annoying over the top mess. Although I did not want a repeat of the orginal, I didn't like how hooper made Leatherface a ruthless killer in the original and them made him into a horny teenager who likes to thrust a chainsaw between his legs in this one, leatherface was far from scary. Chop Top annoyed the hell out of me, actually all the charcthers besides Dennis Hopper's did. Dennis Hopper is the only watchable thing in this movie for me, he was great.

I've watched this movie many times when I was in high school and several times since I bought it in DVD and never realized that Nubbins was the Hitchhiker. Thanks for the info!

I love this flick! it is what Evil Dead 2 was to Evil Dead...
I agree that the movie is a narative mess, but this flick was cut to pieces by the MPAA.
In Tom Savini's book "Bizarro 2" Tom talks about the scenes that were cut...One mayor butchering in a parking lott where Leatherface and co. attack a group hockey fans...the first kill was also severly cut...
This movie rocks!

I personally thought that this movie was a huge poop sandwich with a side of poo. And maybe a poop milkshake.

"Lick my plate, dog-dick!" Has got to be the greatest line ever spoken in a film.
Shoot me, but I think this is one of my favorite horror sequels. I thought it was funny and some of it was scary. The "boo" scare when

Leatherface comes out of the record vault gets me everytime.

hahaha, okay, i'm gonna get my dog-dick ripped off for saying this... but I LOVE TCM 2, my friends and I used to watch that shit all the time.
and the scene in the begininning is def. creepy, with that music playing, 'face is on the truck (going backwards) and kinda looks like he's dancing. It's definately an over the top movie, SOOO cheesey, but I love that shit. that movie always puts a smile on my face when i'm watching it.
Dennis Hopper is a joke to me now too, I saw this movie where it shows his little dick like 3 times... not kidding either. The movie's called "Carried Away". hahah god damn Dennis.
anyways, TCM 2 is good shit.

TCM really bears little resemblence to the original. I think if it had a different name y'all would be more receptive to it.
Yes, its rediculous and campy, but if you can appreciate those aspects of a Horror movie then its worth watching over again.
Plus you got g*d---ed Dennis Hopper. How can you say no?
You got that last slaughter on tape you play it on the radio
If your Horror movies have to be straight with no humor or camp then stick with the original its scary and tense.

This movie took everything from the original and spit on it. I would probably call it the most garbage entry in the series but I have yet to see The Next Generation. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

This is one of the only sequels that I have NEVER EVER seen in a video shop! It's been available for the last couple of years in a bare bones region 2 edition but looks crap. The cover art just depicts DENNIS HOPPER standing there looking like a right penarse! It does NOT make you want to buy it.
I'm gonna buy the new region 1 edition instead.

I just thought Chop-top was awesome as for the ending of the movie it was rather dissapointing.

Its almost like Hooper said, "there's no way that I could possibly outstage the original, so lets make the most outlandish chainsaw that will still be somewhat beleivable to the audience" And I still like it.

this is not what Evil Dead 2 was to Evil Dead because EV2 is actually good. TCM 2 is a pile of shit.

You are one of the few lucky ones.
I enjoyed TCM2...There were some parts that were alittle over the top that the movie could have benefited without...but all in all ive seen worse sequals.

It's...interesting to say the least. Definitely has it's moments but the tone of the whole thing is definitely hard to stomach.
Apparently Hooper was always disappointed that no one saw the "humour" in the original... which is a strange and funny statement in itself. So this was sort of his attempt to reconcile that.
If you want to look into it deeper though, both movies have the same stories and themes, but they each are very unique to their specific time period in America. The first Chainsaw coming after the Vietnam war and Watergate, at a time when America was in despair and feeling low... and the second came during the 80's, a completely ridiculous over-the-top decade where everything was about frivolity. Both movies really reflect their respective time periods. In that sense I think Hooper was really onto something.
Of course... it could be that it's just a shitty movie and I like to over-philosophize... either way.

I will say this though. TCM 2 is one of only two movies that I can think of (along with the original TCM) that actually made me JUMP when I first saw it. As bad as it was it has the distinction setting it apart from any other horror movie I have seen which really bugs me. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Agreed. For me it was always the record vault scene. That scene is HARSH!!!! You should check out the Gruesome Edition to see the cut scenes. There's a really great parking garage attack that is violent and hilarious.

I liked the first and second one but that is about it.
I also liked The Texas Dildo Masquerade starring Ron Jeremy as Franklin but that is another story. :D

Exactly. I think the whole movie sucks. No tension or scares just silliness. But then all of a sudden the record vault scene comes and I nearly jumped out of my skin. For someone who hardly even flinches while watching these movies that was quite an accomplishment. Still a pretty terrible movie though. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.
