I'd like to think The Big Lebowski was the funniest movie ever, but then that'd be glancing over the awkward unfunny moments that just mar the movie for me.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail propably wins it for me.

The most consistently funny movie every has to be Orange County. I've seen that movie at least 8 times in the last two years, and it's just as funny every time.

Clerks.

It's one of my absolute favorite movies of all time.

Seeing the title of this thread, I though Lebowski, or Dr. Strangelove.

However....

I know what you mean... It has one of the most unintentionally funny scenes, that I still describe to this day....

When he tells the guy to "Freeze!" then immediately shoots him and the guy flies into the freezer.

It was supposed to be funny that he says "freeze" and where the guy ends up, but all I could think was how funny it was that he told him to freeze, then immediately shot him.

The two funniest films I have seen are Office Space and The 40-Year Old Virgin. Those two had scenes that left me cracking up for days.

I barely ever "crack up" during movies, although there are a few exceptions.

Clerks
South Park: The Movie
Orange County
Road Trip

and I know I'm gonna get killed for this but I was consistently cracking up throughout this movie and I know it's not a "quality" movie but...
Scary Movie 4 *starts running*
oh and you guys probably won't like this one either:
Dukes of Hazzard *starts running faster*

and then theres the unintentionally funny movies:

Dawn of the Dead (original)
Delta Force (chock full of Chuck Norris and stereotypes)
Alien: Ressurection (mostly the beginning and the end)
Batman & Robin
xXx

I agree on Airplane! and Dumb & Dumber! The two funniest movies of all time!

I also agree on South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.

Also up there:

The Wedding Crashers
Dogma
The Naked Gun movies

Ah, Naked Gun and Airplane! Back when spoof movies were actually funny.

Nowadays we get crap like Scary Movie 4 and Date Movie. Ugh.

As a runner-up to Big Lebowski, I nominate:

Wow - such variety. I'm more old school and prefer the Marx Brothers' A Night at the Opera, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and my personal favorite comedy: Animal House.

jaymckee-

You should restart this thread back in general as "COBRA - funniest movie ever!"

I took this as you wanting to discuss the unintentional humor in Cobra, not generating a funny movie list.

Like I said, when I read the title, I immediately thought "Lebowski" but upon seeing you mentioning a 80s action flick with Sly, it became obvious to me that you were looking for a discussion on that movie, and your title was rhetorical.

Another good sicussion might be "Most unintentionally funny movies" or something. Of course I'm probably mistaken about all of this.

Movies that make me consistantly laugh no matter how many times I've seen them:

Last Action Hero
- "That's why we have area codes." (Arnold's response to how every phone number begins with 555)

Not Another Teen Movie
- "I'm just supposed to say 'Damn!' 'Shit!' and 'That is whack!'"

Scary Movie
- "What's my name, Bobby! What's my name bitch!"

South Park
- "Was my mother careful when she stabbed me in the heart with a coathanger while I was still in the womb?"

Airplane
- "I just want to tell you both good luck. We're all counting on you."

Kung Pow: Enter the Fist
- "I am bleeding, making me the virctor!"

A Fish Called Wanda
- "ASSHOOOOLE!"

The 40 Year Old Virgin will probably end up on this list after I've seen it a few more times. Ditto My Big Fat Independent Movie.
