What films would you say are the best (i.e. well crafted) when it comes to imitating the style (lots of gun fire and slow mo action/bullet ballet) of John Woo's films "The Killer" and "Hardboiled"? Anyone?

I have not seen any American movie that has gotten it right as far as how to make an eighties Hong Kong action flick. Tarantino copying the way they dress in those flicks was nice, but R.D was more of a 'play' version of those flicks and Lam's City on Fire. Also the weichowski bros obviously were influenced by Woo's earlier work but I'm a fan of nothing they have done...

O.k.. What about those who are not American and imitate John Woo's style? Which of their films would you recommend? Not that any of them are available as R1 editions...:(

Robert Rodriguez I think is quite a good Woo imitator. See the Mariachi series.

I forgot about El Mariachi and Desperado, as for non American flicks, I'd go with Lock Stock and 2 smoking barrels and Snatch...

Thanks guys!!:D If possible, name some more please.:)

P.S.
Sadly, I didn't get "Hardboiled" and "The Killer" before they went out of print in R1.:( To make matters worse, Disney:mad: now owns the R1 rights to both films!  We all know what that'll mean when, if ever , they see fit to release them, eh? (snip!snip!snip!)

Well, there's a movie called Hard Justice, directed by Greg Yaitanes that immitates John Woo's motorcade shootout almost perfectly. Unfortunately, Yaitanes underuses the John Woo-ish scenes, most likely due to budget constraints, leaving Hard Justice with 2 very well done John Woo style shootouts.

Mark Roper tries his best to immitate John Woo's style in Livewire Human Timebomb but fails to reach Woo's fantastic cinematography by overusing slow-mo and using very poor sound effects
