Well, I'm currently addicted to Buffy the Vampire Slayer right now (it's the first time I've seen it; I can't believe I waited so long), and I just finished season 2, and waiting to see season 3. In the mean time, I might as well check out a couple of good vamp flicks; I haven't seen too many lately. One of my favorites is The Lost Boys, and I enjoyed the Blade flicks (I rented Trinity, even though I heard it's the worst of the three). I really like the whole "modern" thing in Buffy (I haven't seen to many Hammer vampire flicks). That's why I like The Lost Boys so much. Recommend away!

Oh my. S1 and 2 are my least favorite. If you don't know anything of what's to come, you'll flip (though some, few, thought that it went to crap after S3).

Anyways. Other than the Buff, I only like Interview With The Vampire and of course, the Underworld movies.

I really find that creature boring.

If you haven't seen Buffy season 3 your in for a treat. Its easily the best buffy season of them all and introduces one of the top 3 Buffy characters of all time aka Faith and one of the coolest/fun villians in Buffy/angel history in the Mayor.

If you like Buffy the vampie slayer I would check out Blade 1 and 3, Underworld 1 and 2, and From Dusk Til Dawn.

I thought so. I couldn't stand it after the third season. So ridiculous I can't even explain how much I hate it.

But then, I really dislike the episodic nature of S1 and the first half of S2.

Season Three is the best and afterwards it goes downhill for two seasons, picks up a bit in season 6 and then gets back to great form in season 7.

Season 4 has to be filled with some of the worst written and acted episodes of both buffy and angel. It also has the worst main villian in both buffy and angel as well.

Though it has a good two partner where Buffy/faith switch bodies and Hush though very very overrated is known as one of the best episodes of buffy for some reason.

Season 4 is also the season where they ruin spike forever.

If I had to put Buffy in any order it would be Season 3, Season 2, Season 7, Season 1, Season 5, and last would be season 4.

Season 4 struggled to adapt to the loss of the high school nature of the show and taking it to college. Really, the 'teen cheerleader with super powers' angle is what made the show, so moving it out of high school was difficult.

Hush was not only a remarkable Buffy episode, it won them an Emmy and was a remarkable TELEVISON moment as well. Understand that in TV land to have 2-3 moments on screen with no dialogue is A RATINGS KILLER. It's why past 'horror' shows didnt last, becasue horror requires tension and suspense, IE silence. So, for a show to go 46 minutes without a word of dialogue is incredible. Brilliant writing.

Season 5 is pretty good, and had some great moments. (The end of episode 1 is outstanding!!)

But season 6 felt like a different show. Too funny, lame villian(s). Dug that Xander saves the day though. (Wasnt the mental ward episode here? My FAVE!)

Season 7 was back to form, though Buffy WAS kinda preachy.

Season 2 remains the best. Season 3? Meh, its up there.

If you're in Buffy mode, check out the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. ;) It's fun to laugh at.

I would highly suggest any fan of Buffy to check out Fright Night and From Dusk 'Till Dawn, mainly because like Buffy they're "genre busting" films. Great movies, my favorite vampire flicks. And I would also suggest the highly underrated Dracula 2000. It's a fun ride, not scary or anything, but fun.

The Like the original Buffy movie too. Its fun and good at the same time.

Dracula 2000 on the other hand I would put down as one of the worst vampire flicks of recent years.

If you are wanting to see some good vampire movies, the Classics really are the only way to go...

Dracula (the Universal Classic)
the spanish version of Dracula (the Better Universal classic)
Mark of the Vampire

and of course...the original Nosferatu', the Greatest vampire movie of all time.

All of the Hammer Dracula films are good...

um, not really that much that hasn't been mentioned. Um, The Lost Boys, Fright Night, House of Dark Shadows, and Interveiw with a Vampire are probably my favorites tho.

The Monster Sqaud has Dracula as a character...great movie.

Dracula 2000 is actually the first of a trilogy. Also included are Dracula II: Ascension and Dracula 3: Legacy.

And I quit watching Buffy about 2/3rds of the way through Season 4...what an atrocious season that was. Although I hear it eventually improved, so maybe I'll pick up a couple of the dvds at some point.

Night Watch and Day Watch are NOT vampire flicks!

What is the point/reason to mislead? Did you really watch these Russian pieces of so-so filmmaking?

. . . *sidetracks in urge to talk about Buffy*

My favorite is definitely season 7. It's the most consistent one in terms of good episodes (it only has ONE episode I didn't love, "Sleeper") and big bad. It really created a lot of momentum for its finale with the big question during the last episodes, "How the fuck are they going to make it?". The finale is my favorite Buff episode ever.

My second favorite is a tossup between seasons 4 and 5. Yes, season 4 doesn't take itself seriously but that's why I like it so much. It's by far the one with the most laughs and funniest episodes (nothing like "Something Blue" or "Pangs"). It did have its share of terrible episodes ("Beer, Bad"? Urgh) but overall, it's amazing. What a finale (both "Primeval" and "Restless"), too. Season 5 is just amazing without a single really terrible episode ("Buffy Vs. Dracula" was stupid but come on, it was a silly, laugh-laugh summer episode) with the biggest twists anyone could've seen coming (Joyce, Dawn, Ben, all amazing twists).

Then it's season 6. The no-one-is-happy year was a great season for me mainly because of episode average. The quality is AMAZING. The first 7 episodes (including "Once More with Feeling" and Buffy's funniest episode, "Tabula Rasa") are all amazing. Sure, the Trio was a bad idea (eventhough it's not played as the series' Big Bad) . . . "Normal Again" is one of the best-written Buffy episodes (it takes great writing to make you doubt 6 years of storytelling in 40 minutes) and a finale with a villainess I only liked for one episode. Evil Will got old fast (though the last minutes, when "Prayer to St. Francis" plays, were beautiful).

Then, season 3. I really liked this season because of some of the standalones. "The Wish", "Doppelgangland", "Amends" and the finale are great. I just didn't love the big bad or the lack of emotion. That really turned me off.

Season 2 I only like the second half of, after the twist in "Surprise". Everything before that was the same reason why I don't like season 1. It's too silly. The second half however is AMAZING, with a finale that has the most emotion in the entire show probably. Plus, it adds Oz to the cast.

Season 1 I can't stand (except for "The Pack"), that's all.

Near Dark
Lost Boys
Interview w/ the Vampire
Dusk 'til Dawn
Blade 1 and 3
Underworld 1 and 2
Fright Night 1
Salem's Lot 1
Bram Stoker's Dracula

All of those are good.

If you like comedy ones; try:

Dead & Loving It
Once Bitten

Just remember, those are mindless entertainment.

Um, can't think of any films to recommend so I'll just rant about Buffy and Angel.

I find that though I love seasons one and two and their old-school 80s-90s horror feel and don't like the over-hyped fifth season, I pretty much agree with what you said. The second half of season two is the emotional highpoint of the show and the reason I've been a Buffy fan for like 8 years. Season 4 is great. Don't like Mayor. Love Adam. Adam's one of the best big-bad the Buffyverse has had. I understand that friends and allies turning to villains creates great fundament for really emotional drama, but they have kinda overused it, so I'll go with Adam, Spike and Dru, The Beast (from Angel) and the Adam Baldwin character from Angel season 5 for the coolest Big-bads.
I do think that Buffy should have gone out with a bigger bang. The ending was good, but not as good as some of the previous seasons, while Angel fucking owned with it's last season, going out with probably it's best episode. Well, in a way, Buffy's last episode/season was the biggest bang, with the battle in the end and all, but not in the emotional sense. It grabbed me nowhere near as hard as season 2.

Best season of Buffy - season 2
Best season of Angel - season 5
