100. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Personally, I think this is one of the worst "professional" lists I've ever seen. I could go on for quite some time about all the problems I have with it, but I'll just mention a few:
-Young Frankenstein not even in the top 50, when it should be in the top 10
-The Wedding Singer, Ace Ventura, & South Park all in the top 10
-Napoleon Dynamite in the top 20
-Holy Grail only #40
-Life of Brian not even on the list
-Not a single Marx Bros. movie on the list

And probably the biggest problem I have with the list:
-Some Like it Hot isn't even in the top 100, when it is arguable that it should be #1. Even the people that don't care for the movie would probably admit that it deserves to at least be in the top 100 for its reputation alone.

The list included way too many stoner comedies for my liking, but hey, I guess comedy is all subjective.

WELL. This probably takes the cake as one of the worst lists I've ever seen. Let's analyze, in order of the list itself:

- Shrek #3? With all due respect to Shrek, it is not funnier than Airplane!, or Blazing Saddles, or Groundhog Day for that matter.
- There's Something About Mary at #4? Don't know about all the fans, but I found this movie to be a heartless toilet-joke-induced romp on par with American Pie - and that STANK.
- South Park is way too high.
- So is Ace Ventura. I mean, these movies are funny, but they put them ahead of all these classics!
- What's Napoleon Dynamite even doing ON the list?
- What's Meet the Fockers even doing on the list as well? Ugh.
- Wayne's World, A Fish Called Wanda and The Big Lebowski should be much higher, the last two should at least be in the top 10.
- Groundhog Day should also be much higher, it's definitely one of my top 5 funniest movies.
- Why is Dodgeball so high?
- Monty Python and the Holy Grail is WAY too low. Top 10 material for sure.
- Raising Arizona, Dr. Strangelove and Swingers should be much higher.
- What are American Pie and Meet the Parents doing on this list?
- This is Spinal Tap and The Blues Brothers should be WAY higher.
- What are Half Baked and Zoolander doing on the list?

If there's one thing that I must compliment the list on, it is that it didn't miss out on all the John Landis Harold Ramis SNL 1980's flicks - Three Amigos, Trading Places, Ghost Busters, City Slickers. Notable omissions from this genre include Mr. Saturday Night and Planes Trains & Automobiles. How these didn't make it on the list, I don't know. All these movies are so much funnier than all these Will Farrell Ben Stiller idiot-fests that came out lately. On the other hand, I must complement 40 Year Old Virgin and Wedding Crashers for being truly and down-right funny. Good on them.

Since the list does include spoofs, where is Spaceballs? Robin Hood Men in Tights? Hot Shots!?

One very major flaw of the list is that, besides Dr. Strangelove as a very large exception, the movies basically start from the late 1970s. Where is Charlie Chaplin? Marx Brothers? Buster Keaton? Duck Soup, Night at the Opera, Modern Times, City Lights... all these are funnier than a majority of the movies on the list!

Also, the Coens don't get enough love.

A pitiful list.

Meet the Parents is hillarious, and I feel it does deserve a place on the list. The fact that it is number 52 is debateable, but what is truly ridiculous is that Meet the Fockers, the money grubbing, funny in a desperate kind of way sequel is #25! What?!

I'll categorize:

I'D LIKE TO SEE THEM HIGHER
The Big Lebowski
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Dumb and Dumber
Ferris Bueller's Day Off

TAKE. THEM. OFF!
Napoleon Dynamite

...Need I say more?

Movies that shouldn't be on the list AT ALL!:

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (although I think the sequel should be on the list)
Legally Blonde
Moonstruck (OVERRATED!)
Bananas (DREADFUL movie!)
Zoolander
The Aristocrats

Movies that should be higher on the list:

Anchorman
The Birdcage
Meet the Fockers
The Wedding Crashers
Airplane! (should be number 1!)

The Wedding Singer at 9. What the Hell.

Why is Young Frankenstein at 56. its top 20 material.

What a terible list.

More than half of these would be perfectly suitable for the "least funniest movies of all time" list.

The list is pretty bad, and pretty predictable (it was obvious that they picked Animal House as #1). Although, I was glad to see Rushmore at number 34.

Wait, wait,wait, wait, wait.

The Incredibles is FUNNY?

I mean I thought it was a decent movie, but what was so FUNNY about it?

And Anchorman (IMO) should be HIGHER on that list, atleast higher than Napolean fucking Dynamite.

Then again, IMO.

Urgh, what a poor excuse for a list. I was going to catergorise my thoughts like ChemicalRomance did, but damn, theres so much awful stuff it's hard to do.

But fuck Napoleon Dynamite, that shouldn't be on any list apart from "100 most over quoted pieces of shit films".

No there both very very very very overrated. Sure wedding crashers had its moments but not one of the 100 funniest movies ever.

I agree that Napoleon Dynamite should not be in this list. It's funny but it's not hilarious. And where in the fuck were "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" and "European Vacation". They were a hell of a lot funnier than the original and were much more classic. There are no Chris Farley films in this list at all, fucking shameful!

Movies I would take out:

1. Sister Act (Not very funny at all)
2. Shrek (It was funny but doesn't deserve the #3 spot)
3. Legally Blonde (Don't even get me started)
4. American Graffiti (Most boring movie known to man)
5. When Harry Met Sally (WTF?)
6. Moonstruck (Please just kill me now)
7. Clueless ( )
8. Four Wedding and a Funeral (Anything with Julia Roberts deserves to be burned)

Movies I would put in:

1. Snatch
2. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
3. Mars Attacks
3. Scary Movie
4. Back to School
5. Real Genius
6. Me, Myself & Irene
7. The Last Boyscout (The best one-liner movie ever)
8. Death to Smoochy
9. Smokey & The Bandit
10. Heartbreak Ridge
11. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
12. National Lampoon's European Vacation
13. Tommy Boy
14. Volunteers
15. Bachelor Party
16. Cool Runnings

There are more but I can't think of them now, what a shit list.

This proves my point vh1 bravo and all these 100 greatest shows have there head shoved so far up there ass that they think shrek is consider a great comedy man that movie was horrid, and why is half baked metinoned at #90 or 80 something that movie is great I love how they didnt mentiton Up in Smoke or any of the good cheech and chongs series.
Hell I Think Full Metal Jacket Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas should be put up as great works of comedy this list is a bad same with Vh1 story of Metal witch had no mentiton of Black Metal Scene or anything else its all 80's and semi heavy 90's band. I say don't have coperate america tell me whats the 100greatest movies are or the best metal songs I know what I like and I want it.

1. Since when was Julia Roberts in 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'? I think you're confusing that film with 'My Best Friend's Wedding.'

2. When Harry Met Sally is one of the funniest movies ever, not to mention one of the best romantic comedies.

I agree that Animal House deserves to be #1 since it is my favorite comedy of all time. That's about where the good stuff stops.

No Marx Bros? Are you kidding me? They practically invented the genre!!

Bull Durham, This is Spinal Tap, and Swingers are way too low on the list.

Pee Wee's Big Adventure, There's Something About Mary and Shrek (I love the movie, but #3?) are too high. Dodgeball was not funny, but stupid and somebody's going to have to explain to me how Meet the Fockes is higher than Meet the Parents.

I am glad that Roxanne made the list though - I feel like that movie doesn't get enough love.

With as many faults as this list has, they did a major favor for one of the most underrated films of all-time, Arthur, by putting it well-deservedly in the #10 spot. Possibly even a bit low for that movie.

And Wedding Crashers[, was, not that good. Doesn't deserve to be in the Top 50.

And also, I may have missed this because I skimmed and didn't thoroughly look over the list, but there was not one Charlie Chaplin film either. Come on, there would have been no Producers (which deserved to be in the top 10, IMO) without something that deserves to be in the top 20, The Great Dictator.

Wedding Singer was not one of Sandler's top 2 movies (I put Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison above that, just in terms of pure comedy). So how is the #9 selection justified?

Birdcage should be MUUUUCH higher, and Meet the Parents is not as funny as Meet the Fockers is one of the most ridiculous proclimations one can make.

I can understand their placing in the comedy genre, but no, I don't find them that funny at all. I have more preference to a wry sense of humour, with the odd exception. I consider the 'classics' to be Buster Keaton, Marx Brothers, Chaplin etc.
