In vain of my recent re-watch of Boogie Nights and Magnolia, posted were a series of these topics featuring the three major supporting players of these films. First up: Philip Seymour Hoffman.
After his brilliant leading turn in Capote, I went back and watched some of his older stuff and realised that he made much more of an impression on me than I originally remembered. He's truly brilliant, and how an Oscar nom eluded him until last year really is beyond me.
Here are my favourites:
1. Truman Capote in Capote
2. Scotty J. in Boogie Nights
3. Phil Parma in Magnolia
4. Lester Bangs in Almost Famous
5. Freddie Miles in The Talented Mr. Ripley
6. Dean Trumbell in Punch-Drunk Love
7. Reverend Veasey in Cold Mountain
8. Allen in Happiness
9. Owen Davian in Mission: Impossible III
10. Jacob Elinsky in 25th Hour
11. Joseph Turner White in State and Main
12. Wilson Joel in Love Liza
13. Brandt in The Big Lebowski
14. Rusty Zimmerman in Flawless
15. Dustin Davis in Twister
16. Mitch Roman in Patch Adams
17. Sandy Lyle in Along Came Polly
