Hey everybody,

As well on October 3rd comes news that Universal will also be releasing a Platinum 2-disc version of "Scarface". This will be the third release of the movie and I can't understand why they would do it. C'mon, the 20th Anniversary edition is loaded with special features and a DTS track which it doesn't sound like this one will have it but the details are still early. Here is the blurb on it:

Universal Home Video has sent over early details on a Platinum Edition of the Brian De Palma directed Scarface which stars Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert Loggia. This two-disc package will be available to own from the 3rd October, and should set you back around $29.98. The film itself will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Universal has yet to reveal the disc specs I'm afraid, but we'll bring you further details very shortly. As always, stay tuned.

It had better be loaded with tons more shit for me to go out and buy it again but I truly doubt it at this point.

What do you all think?

If I didn't lose it when I moved then I'll just keep the 20th Anniversary Edition. If I did, I might pick this up.

Great flick... but not sure why this is happening... Oh wait, yes I am. They want more money out of it and they know people will buy it

This is just another cash grab by the studio. If it was going to be a 3-4 disc edition with an obscene amount of special features then I would be ok with it. But since this is going to be a 2 disc like the 20th anniversary edition I cant imaging there is going to be anything worthwile enough for anybody to douple dip on this edition.

Maybe we'll get a proper commentary this time?

Yeah. They should just call this one the "Bling Bling Edition."
