View Full Version : Favorite football movies
Since kickoff is only a few weeks away, I thought this topic would be appropriate. My favorite is an obscure movie I saw at the theater back in 1984 called "The Bear". It was about the legendary Alabama coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. I have never seen hide nor hair of this movie since (no TV,video etc.) It had some of the greatest locker room speeches I have ever seen.

Easily... Rudy. I haven't seen 'The Program', 'The Longest Yard' or 'Brians Song' (1971) yet so my exp. in this field has been fairly limited.

Any Given Sunday
I really liked this film because it showed how down and dirty football gets not only on the field but also in the relationships between players, coaches, owners, etc. It also has one of my favorite actors in it, Al Pacino!

Finally a topic that I know a lot about.
1) Rudy is by far the greatest. Forget LOTR, this will forever be Sean Astin's greatest role.
2) The Program - shows the gritty behind the scenes of "winning at all costs attitude" (plus Tyra Banks)
3) Any Given Sunday - Football, plus Oliver Stone. Hell Yeah
4) The Replacements - fun football comedy
5) North Dallas Forty
6) Longest Yard
7) Necessary Roughness - Kathy Ireland as the place kicker
8) Little Giants
9) Brian's Song
I love all of these and I know I am forgetting a few.

My vote has to for North Dallas Forty. I know I might be dating myself by saying that, but it's a classic.
