Has anybody seen this new version?

I was debating getting it over the first release, but was wondering if the added footage was any good, or if it made the movie like Apocalypse Now: Redux...Cause it's already a long movie to begin with...

woot-woot. I don''t see the point in this version when you can get the three disc pretty cheap used. Any case, I haven't seen this cut either.

The 3-Disk Deluxe edition is $30.00, and this new release is like $13.48 or something...are the two extra discs worth it? Also, have you actually seen the extended cut? I was reading reviews on amazon.com and the response to this release is pretty positive...
If you have the original version of Black Hawk Down, go ahead and give it away, sell it, use it as a coaster, etc. This version is exactly how a redux is done. I can go on and on analyzing this movie and giving legitimate reasons why you should go get this movie now -- I should know because I have literally watched the original version about 50 times, give or take a few dozen (I am NOT exaggerating!) -- however, I will save you the time of reading and assure you that this version is BETTER!! Do not let the seemingly mere 8 minutes of extra footage fool you... it is practically a completely new movie. The visuals and audio are superbly remastered. Hands down, hands down [on this one!]!
Anyway, thanks for the advice...

Remember the deleted scenes from previous releases? Just them cut back into the movie. Ridley has even stated that this is just an extended version with the optional material cut in, and is not his preferred cut. Add to the fact that's an extended cut that disrupts the original cut's crisp pace without the two bonus discs that would make, say, the Gladiator extended cut worth getting, and you've got yourself an unecessary double-dip by Sony, kings of the double-dip.

nope, but i have seen the deleted scenes, and they just aren't necessary in the film i feel. the three-disc version i own has excellent documentaries, 1 massive 2 hour 30 minute making of, and disc 3 has 2 very intersting feature-length documentaries on the real veterans and the Battle of Mogadishu......well worth $30 in my eyes

Ok, thanks guys. I didn't realize that the additional footage were the original deleted scenes. That is a pretty haggar reason for a double-dip, looks like the 3 Disc Deluxe Edition is the best option...
