Do you guys think that The Panic Room will be able to make over $100 million? It seems really good to me, and there is no doubt that it will have a sizeable opening weekend, but if it isn't any good, it could drop rapidly. It seems like the kind of film that would have longevity, but you can never tell. Personally, I think as long as it makes over $25 million its opening weekend, it should be able to make over $100 million.

I could be wrong because I suck at predicting the box office, but I have a feeling that this movie will make $100 million or come close. The previews were really really good, and I'm sure most of the public will agree.
I think it will. It looks great and I can just tell it will be a hit.

I hope it,
But than again this is a Fincher movie and the last two of him didn't do that well at the box office.
I guess it will do fine but no 100 million

Well, as long as it gets good reviews, and if it does well on it's opening week. I think it'll cross the 100 million mark.

I have read good and bad reviews.
So I have some doubts (which I don't like to have...)

Haha, reviews mean nothing. Fight Club got some of the best reviews ever, at least In the UK and it still made no money at all at the box office!!!
The fact is that Fincher made the film, so it will be good, they always are from him (best director in hollywood at the moment). However, Panic room probably won't make much moolah as it's by 'that guy who did Fight club etc'.
cest la vie.

They can say "By the director of THE GAME and SE7EN", which both made some money.

I agree, they are not going to pull in the money by saying “from the director of Fight Club” because a lot of the public did not like it. They should use Seven because it is very rare you meet someone that did not like Seven.

I definitely think that Panic Room will make big bucks at the box office. It will definitely do well opening weekend because of the holiday and I think that it will sprout legs that will carry it into the summer...

Guys, don't get me wrong, Fincher is the best there is and I really hope panic room does it for him. I meant by the fight club thing that people may well remember Fincher from that and as such not go and see it. I don't think the film will be advertised that way, it just might put people off, and if that's as many as were put off by Fight club...

Well, if you think about it, it doesn't really matter if they say from the director of "The Fight Club," because this movie looks nothing like the Fight Club. So, the two movies should not be easily comparable, so no one should really be turned off by that fact.

I don't think PANIC ROOM will hit the century mark. I just don't think it is that type of movie. I think it looks great but it is a thriller and they usually do around 60-70 million. It could be a break-out hit. David Fincher has three bombs under his belt and one blockbuster(although all four were fairly good films). But Jodie Foster has had extreme success with thrillers(THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS). And Jared Leto has been in a few big movies. Forrest Whitaker might bring in an african american audience. But I think the demographic that it will be hard-pressed to reach is the 1-18(I know two years olds don't matter but it is just supposed to represent all children) demographic. I'll predict an 21 million opening with a final of 69 million.

It could be wise to sell it as "from the director of Seven". Seven was a huge hit, it made 330 million worldwide and was the 7th biggest grossing movie of the year. Panic Room has a similar dark look to it and it's a thriller, so why not use the reputation of Seven?

As for B.O, it's likely to end up around 100 million. The opening won't be that big, but it will have good legs.

It wil make anout 80 to 90 mill. It has that R next to it that might hurt it
It's a crowded market not only this weekend but the weeks ahead. Following closely on its heels are HIGH CRIMES and MURDER BY NUMBERS, both appealing to the same crowd. Also, with summer and all the big films just aound the corner, I believe PANIC ROOM will have a tough time hitting the century mark.
