Ah yes, the birthday of Canada, where now gays can marry each other and pay a lower tax on their honeymoon. Oh joy at this marvellous day when we celebrate by getting drunk and lighting fireworks in front of people's houses! So why not celebrate some great Canadian actors, actresses, directors, writers, best boy's, etc.
I was going to be such a patriot and type up as many as I know, but why should I do that when Wikipedia has done it for me!

And we can't forget directors like David Cronenberg, Norman Jewison, Atom Egoyan and Paul Haggis (just kiddin' lol)

Had to work today (in the only store that's actually open here, no less), and watch England lose to Portugal, but...
Happy Canada Day, everyone.
Every silver lining, eh (pardon the pun there)?

I had to work tonight at my video store. We did, however, watch "Canadian Bacon" to celebrate as we watched fireworks in the distance.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CANADA!

yeah happy canada day...
i hope you all had a better one than me...
was great until some fucking cops fined me $125 downtown when everyone was drinking all on the streets...the woman cop feels my pocket and is right in my face going "what's this, you got a weapon in there, huh, huh?" and then she pulls out a little bottle i have in my pocket and shoves it in my face and goes "what's this huh - some kind of weapon, huh?"...
...of course the fucking tiny bottle was GLASSES CLEANER. what dirtbag cops, clearly had nothing better to do than to ruiin people's canada day...as glad as i am that my friends didn't get fined, it's funny how they pick the single asian guy out of all the white people walking with drinks in hand...
the other cop (male) of course asks me if i have id, and i said i basically only have my bus pass on me...so he takes out my wallet, sees my bus pass, shoves it in my face and is like, "what's this huh, you lying to me, no id?" and i was thinking...wtf is wrong with these two idiots.
and that woman cop seriously needs to find a better way to feel people up if she's so horny.
of course on top of this, unlike last year when we got on the bus and it was all good, we had to wait two fucking hours for a single bus to stop (and the 95 waas going past every 3-4 minutes)...everyone at the bus stop was pretty fucking annoyed...we were trying to leave downtown for someone's house at a little after 10 and I just got home about half an hour ago (1:00)...we ended up not going to that person's house of course cause the fucking buses took so long and cause that cop incident was a nice depressing way to end off canada day. of course, the pouring rain in ottawa didn't help either.

That's pretty shitty, JC. As fun as it is partying downtown on Canada day, it can be a real pain in the ass, and just totally ruin the day for ya.
I, on the other hand, had a very lowkey Canada Day with my buddy/guitarist. We were a little hungover from Friday night, as we had a gig, so we just stayed at my place, had a couple drinks, ate some burgers, watched a couple movies, the football game, etc.. We were gonna go watch the fireworks here in the town I live in, but the rain was a real drag, so we scrapped that idea. All in all, a pretty decent Canada Day if I do say so myself.

So true...
Last year was awesome, on the other hand. Went to a party, then to another group of friends' place, then downtown for the fireworks and we got back on the buses no problem - like this year, it was surreal on the way downtown with people drinking and smoking up on the buses...
Though last year was, umm, "lively" as well, as one of the people we were with got into a fight on Sparks Street lol...was...interesting...
Oh well, I did have a great Canada Day before the whole cop and bus thing...we ate at Tucker's Marketplace, went to Hull to get smashed (Hull was actually quite eerily quiet in contrast to downtown Ottawa) and then back to Ottawa for the fireworks...also, saw so many random people downtown heh...
And yeah, that sounds like a nice relaxing Canada Day...sadly today it's back to work for me...
