I just saw jackie brown. It wasn't bad, but no as good as pulp fiction. It doesn't really seperate itself from any other heist movie til the end, and it kind of does with 2 great perfomances from bob deniro and samuel L Jackson. Pam Greir is also pretty good, but her scenes with mike keaton are the weaker ones.
The dialogue isnt nearly as good a spulp fiction, it stil has some noir comical moments, but not quite as many as pulp fiction.
I was just wondering what people thought of this film compared to other quentin movies, and just in general.

P.S. I though Samuel L should have one a supporting oscar for his perfomance. I thought he was a little bit better then deniro. but both were great.

Highly underrated by the critics who made Pulp Fiction a smash hit. While expectations for a wall crash, pop culture lovin' homage were not met by most of these wordsmitsh (even though there are plenty of homages, starting with casting blaxpoitation queen Pam Grier), this is a complete turnaround in Quentin Tarantino's career. By turns mature and brilliantly directed, this is a film that answers the question, "Will Quentin ever grow up?" He did, and most rejected it. A shame.

Jackie Brown- 8/10

Good, but it doesn't come close to touching Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, or Kill Bill.

Jackie Brown is my third favorite Tarantino film behind Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Pulp Fiction.

I'd give it a 9/10. I love the movie, but its probably at the bottom of my Tarantino list.
Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, and Kill Bill 2 are 10/10 for me
and Jackie Brown and Kill Bill 1 are 9/10

Eh, I don't care for the film.
Never found it interesting or that well made (story wise of course).
It was too much style, rather than cohesive and interesting narrative.
I don't like it. 6/10

I'd go so far as to say that it's probably the best-acted of Tarantino's films. The entire cast is flawless, especially Forster and Jackson.

I think what might have turned most people off is the fact that it was essentially the opposite of Pulp Fiction in terms of atmosphere; a slow, careful, quiet, character-driven crime flick. Whch is a shame, 'cause it's probably my second or third-favourite Tarantino-directed film.

9/10, but still behind all of his other stuff, including true romance but not natural born killers

Cocksmokinclerk, aren't you forgetting From Dusk Till Dawn?

It's a solid 8.5/10 for me. The movie would have to be my least favorite Tarantino-directed film...but that's like saying "my least favorite chest full of treasure". Either way, it's still pure solid gold! (and other various rare items).

I thought it was pretty good the first couple of times I watched it but it isn't something that can be watched over and over again like Quentin's other films. Overall, not a bad movie, but not too rewatchable. I tend to watch like only a few scenes over and over again from the film instead of watching the whole thing over again, kinda like True Romance, except I'd rather watch True Romance than this over and over again. 6/10

Reservoir Dogs 9/10
Pulp Fiction 8/10
Kill Bill: Volume 17/10
Kill Bill: Volume 2 9/10

Quentin's other non-directed works (just for the hell of it)
Natural Born Killers 9/10
True Romance 6/10
From Dusk Till Dawn 5/10

It probaly is the best acted one. But the dialogue makes it the weakest of all his films. the begining is good, sets it up 2 be good film, but the middle nothing too much happens. Ending is very good.

10/10, behind only Pulp Fiction in Tarantino's ouevre and one of the best films of the 1990's. I think this is, overall, Tarantino's best acted and most mature film, I also totally don't understand the notion that it's "slow". I think this is a movie filled with excitement, it's got a hell of a plot that involves lots of double and triple-crossing, but never confuses the audience. I was always aware of what was going on in the story, even if I was a step behind Jackie, and found all of it captivating. I re-watch this minimum of once a year. An absolute masterpiece.

Tarantino's films:
1.) Pulp Fiction -10/10
2.) Jackie Brown -10/10
3.) Kill Bill: Volume I -10/10
4.) Reservoir Dogs -9/10
5.) Kill Bill: Volume II -9/10
6.) His Four Room Segment -6/10 (Four Rooms Overall -4/10)

Non-directed:
1.) True Romance -9/10
2.) Natural Born Killers -8/10
3.) From Dusk Till Dawn -7/10

I think it's a masterpiece. Tarantino shows us he can make a mature film, but also have it damn entertaining. Definitely underrated. 9/10

I really dug this movie. It actually got better the second time I saw it... the first time I was in that "It's not like Pulp Fiction" boat, but I got over that fast and I really enjoyed it for the characters... Everybody's funny in their own way and the movie really focuses on the characters, which I love because who really cared about the plot anyway?

This and Pulp Fiction are the only Tarantino flicks I really love. I get a little bored by Dogs if I see it now, and Kill Bill did nothing for me... good action, crappy story and characters (Kill Bill not Dogs). It's only my opinion, so don't get butt hurt by it.

I think it's his most complete and best effort. Sections of Pulp Fiction are better, but as a whole, Jackie Brown is his best work.

Even if Pam Grier's acting is more than a little suspect...

7/10 - Tarantino's weakest effort that is still good but lacks... something. It's just not as self-important as Tarantino's other films, and coming from him, I think that's a flaw, and not a good thing. Sam Jackson is da man, though.

3. Kill Bill Vol. 1 *** 1/2 (8/10)
4. Kill Bill Vol. 2 *** 1/2 (8/10)

I think the problem most of us have with it is that QT's adapting a novel, not just doing his usual thing of making up a story by thinking about a genre and shoving in brilliant dialogue.

But, yeah, Jackson's great.

Four Stars out of four. Jackie Brown is just as excellent as Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill Vol.1 & Vol.2, and Reservoir Dogs. Quentin Tarantino has never made a disappointing film.

I would prolly give it a 8/10. It was a little boring in some sections but I would say that its on par with Kill Bill.

I realise this is an extreme minortiy view but... I think it's Tarantino's best by some distance.

Jackie Brown: 5/5
Pulp Fiction: 4/5
Kill Bill Vol 1: 4/5
Reservoir Dogs: 3/5
Kill Bill Vol2: 2/5
