Has anyone seen this thing? It has Burt Lancaster and Janice Rule (the pregnant women in "3 Women") in it and is supposed to be pretty good.

It sounds interesting.
I'll have to give it a rent some time...

8/10

It's really good. It follows the John Cheever story quite closely, but on screen, it plays a lot like a sad Twillight Zone episode. Very surreal, as you watch the Lancaster character go from this strong, strapping man to, with every new stopping point in his life, a frail being.

And that last shot....wow. Sad and horrifying, a killer combination that gets to me every time.

Lazy Boy, that description has now pushed the six dollars out of the wallet. Thanks.

A brief Google search reveals not a single review that isn't high praise. Wow. Some of the descriptions remind of "The Graduate", but I suspect that its only because of the pool presence in both and their similar release dates.

I watched this film in my American Short Stories course. The whole class had a good laugh at the cornier moments.

Everyone buy this one at DeepDiscountDVD (indeed if you are planning to buy it).

At $6, it's a third the price of Amazon's "Swimmer", not to mention the shipping costs.

Really? It's on deep?
I was going to buy it off amazon...
*looks around, makes sure the offer is real*

I'm buying right this instant! :)
But they have a really nice KINO sale going on and I need to get a few things there, which sucks because I am near broke this month.
Guess I shouldn't have bought that Body Snatchers dvd today.
Oh well, thank god it's my birthday. :)

Kino sale!

Do you know how long this is going on?

I could get "The Art of Buster Keaton" for under $100!

Yeah, I know.
It's so upsetting considering the fact that most of my dvd wish list consists of Kino dvds. :(
And I have no idea how long it lasts, but my guess is until 07/18.
I would get the Keaton set, the Lang set, the German horror set, Asphalt, Les Bonnes Femmes, Scarlett Street, Dr. Mabuse - the Gambler, Counsellor at Law, L'Age d' Or, the Fanny Trilogy, and Man with a Movie Camera.
I wish I could get all of them, and I probably won't get half.
It's an amazing deal though - better than the criterion one.
But the Keaton set for 100?
Yowza!

I do know the KINO sale started yesterday or today though...
