In Amsterdam 20 minutes of the new James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig screened. A dutch moviewebsite saw it an placed an article here:
http://www.filmfocus.nl/nieuws/item.php?id=8316

Since most of you schmoes don't speak or can read Dutch I'll give a summary/translation, beware for some SPOILERS though!!!!

PS this website is not known for rumors and stuff like that, they stick to the facts and all that so this information is reliable

The BIG question? How is Craig as commander Bond?? He is good.
Apparently they saw a compilation of scenes and Craig is a playing a very down-to-earth, though Bond. The emphasis lays on man-to-man combat, hard action and not on technical gadgets. The movie goes back to the early years of Bond, when he is still is single 0 and is trying to get the second 0 and "a license to kill". The openingscene is Bond's very first assesination order, this scene is shown in black and white and very brutal. Looking more like a Tarantino-flick then James Bond.

Ok, that was it?? I don't know if I'm too pleased with the direction their going, but we'll just have to wait and see

So, even if it's not a real james bond flick
Atleast we get a brutal action flick.

Meh.

I'm really pulling for this to be a success. After Road to Perdition and Munich I woul love to see Craig become one of the big actors in Hollywood.

I'm psyched about this. From what I have heard, I like the direction that this film is going in. I am also interested to see how Daniel Craig will handle the character. He's a good actor and I think he could make this film interesting.

I seriously doubt that it will be a brutal action flick that is more Tarantino than Bond! Afterall, it's going to be rated PG-13 just like all the other Bond flicks. Tarantino doesn't even know how to make a PG-13 movie so I'm sure it will be a typical James Bond flick. Don't believe every article you read especially since they haven't finished making the movie yet. Afterall, I saw the teaser trailer too and personally I think it will be the worst Bond portrayal and Bond movie since the Timothy Dalton days!

People will flame me for saying this, but... Bond has become a joke. After cheesy efforts like DIE ANOTHER DAY, I think CASINO ROYALE will take the 007 series in a different direction - one that's serious and badass and slick as hell. But that's just my 2 cents.

Joke or not, I still love the Bond movies - they're a good time at the movies in my opinion. I'm also really looking forward to see what Craig does with the character and where he takes the franchise. He was my pick to take over the Bond role - after seeing Layer Cake, and I know I'll be there opening day when Casino Royale is released.
