I want to pick it up, but I may just succumb to the 07/19 R2 release.
I don't know. What do you say Jonathan?

Not sure, the artwok is definately superior, but like you said with an extra 2 months advantage it's hard to decide.
I'll probably grab both, see which one I like better and then flog the one which is inferior, but that's just me :)
Definately if you haven't seen it yet thought grab the R2, it's worth getting earlier just to savour ;)

Me, too.
This, plus Hard Candy, makes for an exciting DVD week.

We'll see. I may actually do as you suggested, or rent it from this store which rents other region dvds, so that I can just see it, and then buy the R1 release.
We'll see, but thanks for the pointers.
I like how you use "flog" :)
I haven't seen the film, but Ebert mentioned that scene in his review.

Yes, the two movies I regret missing most come out in the same week.

It's definitely worth picking this baby up; I saw it a couple of weeks ago and it's a great western with great characters, action, plot, everything.
And ditto about the cover art.

It's a horrendous scene, to me it really played on the dichotomy of family - love and pain. Oh my, everytime I discuss it I remember how much I loved this film :D.

Hard Candy was brilliantly effective at the multiplex, I can't help but wonder if it would be as hardhitting at home, or perhaps even more so.

I'm sure it'll be fine for me regardless, since I have nothing to compare it to.
It's pretty sad that I barely watch any good movies in theaters.
The only two great ones I saw this year were United 93 and Brick.

I think HC works on both the small and the big screen, but since it feels like a play, a more intimate, home atmosphere might amp up the psychological, claustrophobic terror on display.

Wait a sec, the Aussie version doesn't have any special features but the U.S. version does? This is bullshit!

WOW!
A U.S DVD getting more special features than a foreign DVD?
That's like a first!
