The World Cup is almost over, and I'm sure all of us have an opinion on the games played.

Here's the point: what do the schmoes think could be done in order to improve the game, make it more enjoyable for the viewing public? Serious and not so serious suggestions (e.g. the Designated Bitchslapper rule) are welcome.

Aaaaaaaaaand go!

So, here's my idea after having seen C.Ronaldo or several other Italian or Portuguese players:
After a dive the next foul committed against this player should not be given, no matter how hard it is. That'd be fun watching those &?!@%§...divers run, chased by Gattuso, Huth or Rooney :D

Make it three yellow cards, not two before you are suspended for the next game.

Great thread.

1. Agree with Maz Volt's suggestion above. Make it 3 instead of 2 then at least if someone as missed a final it is because they have been careless.

2. Instant dismissal from the field if a player urges the ref to card an opponent.

3. Each game viewd by an official after the match and each and every example of cheating or diving to be dealt with by a ban and a large fine that goes into a fund to help develop interest and teach football in 3rd world countries.

4. Make it compulsory for the Portugese team to go into the army. Maybe it will toughen their girly asses up.

5. Make it illegal to kick a ball out of play if a team mate is down and make it legal for physios to come onto the field without the ref's permission. Thus taking away the stoppages and insuring that players with serious injuries are treated quicker.

6. Any hassleing of the reffere or back chat is to be deealt with by an instant yellow no matter if the whole team surrounds him.

7. Introduce to referee's. 1 in each half.

All I can think of for now.

I really love those three points, especially the one about the 3rd world. The US really needs better football facilities ;-) No, seriously, that is a great idea.

Regarding a more financial aspect: why don't the big European Leagues take a cue from the US and introduce some sort of salary cap that regulates annual spending & salaries. And don't inflict financial penalties, go to the points. That way clubs like Chelsea & Real Madrid could be somewhat regulated.

Ahhhhh yes I knew there was another thing bugging me.

Great point. They should defintley bring in salary caps. Like you say the teams backed with the most money will dominate and the game will stagnate.

This has got to happen soon otherwise it's going to get boring watching Chelsea win everything all the time.

Another idea to make the game more fluent and give it more space:

How about changing the offside rule by having a sort of attack line like in ice hockey so that teams cannot push attackers back to the middle. Just put this attack line anywhere near 20m from the goal and you will have lots of space in the midfield.

And stop these refs from calling offside when attacker and defender are on one line. I know that rule already exists but hardly anyone sticks to it.

What about having a minimum time of being banned from the field if the game got stopped because of you? If you have to stay outside for let's say 3min. after being treated, players won't act like pussy. If you are seriously injured you'll need those 3min. anyway, if not - stay inside! Of course, players should be allowed to leave the field for a treatment whenever they like and then they should be allowed to immediately return. So there's no delay in the game

Welcome to the boards Koppinho.

I agree that they definitley need to improve the off side situation because they never seem to give the attacker the beifit of the doubt like they are supposed to. but I think the hockey line thing may br to drastic for FIFA to consider.

I do like your 2nd point though. If a playr stays down injured he must stay off the pitch for 3 minutes. Yeah I definitley like the sound of that one.
