I absolutely hate when studios pull crap like this. First they release a bare bones AND 2 disc versions simoultaneously. God forbid they give you some special features on the standard version no you've got to spend 10 bucks more on the 2 disc to get those. Then less than a year later they are gonna release a 4 disc this is total B.S.
If a studio is going to plan SE loaded with features don't bother with the 2 disc, just release the bare bones version until the difinitive version can be finished. Many Narnia fans probably bought the 2 disc thinking this would be the only SE released for at least a few years. This is studio cash grabbing at it's worst.
Shame on you Disney!!!

There had been rumors about this floating around for quite some time, but I still wasn't going to wait. The following message was posted in the Rumor Mill over at the Digital Bits back in mid February:
So... is anyone out there interested in seeing an extended edition of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe? The theatrical editions are due to hit DVD on 4/4, but our industry sources are telling us that Disney is considering a longer version of the film for DVD release later this year or next, a la the dual versions of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings films.

I'm there. I loved the movie and I only got the stupid 1-disc edition. Can't wait.

I'm glad I haven't gotten this yet, because this sounds like a more attractive offer. I hope its as good as the extended sets for LoTR.

I loved the movie but never got the current 1-disc DVD because I was hoping for something like this. I'll definitely be picking it up upon its release.

..im hoping it makes the movie a better product, despite the running time off Narnia i thought it felt abit "choppy". Wondering if anyone else felt the same..
The Two Towers felt the same way, and i thought the extended edition actualy made it feel SHORTER due to it actualy making sense!:p

I bought the bare bones disc as I was hoping that there would be something like this.
I really like the extended editions of LOR.

The thing is, I don't know what they could possibly add. The movie had already padded out the extremely thin book by a lot. Unless the final battle is like twenty minutes longer or something.

I say they add one or two cuss words and a car exploding out of nowhere.
Thats usualy what a directors cut means, and it would enhance this movie greatly.

I thought the movie was okay, so I won't be getting any version of the DVD. But I am curious as to what the new scenes are.

I thought Narinia was a good movie, however this 4-disc set seems to cash in the effect of Lotrings franchise. It seems very half hearted and kind of too late to release a disc of this magnitude. Maybe a ten year ann would be more sufficent, but with the sequels going to works who should really bother pickig ths up when deluxe boxsets will be released when everything is said and done?

I hated this movie. Not sure why but it just didn't sit well with me. I will be steering way clear of this release.

IGN have details of the set, no boxart yet but the specs sound pretty comprehensive. I wasn't a huge fan of the film so won't be getting it but like King Kong it seems like the studios wanted some more money, don't get me wrong, the sets both look great for fans but its the fact that they weren't mentioned until now that irks me.
Anyway check out the details here (http://dvd.ign.com/articles/720/720494p1.html)

I saw the "new" footage they were doing for it at the San Diego Comic Con and it's totally just to cash in some more. I was actually a little ashamed for the guy pushing the agenda because it's total bullshit.

I thought this movie was pretty mediocre and I wouldn't think about buying this. The only version of this I would consider buying would maybe be a cheap VHS.

Dammit, I hope you can buy it without the statue-things (unless there's an Aslan statue then I'm in) because 80 dollars is quite a lot.
. . . who am I kidding, I'd buy it either way. I just don't want that lame Tumnus/Lucy ones.
Amazon has it released by December 12th, just checked.
