Yahoo's got it up. Looks good. I was skeptical of the flick, but the moment the theme music started up the nostalgia factor kicked in. I'll definitely be seeing it. :)

Being as much of a gigantic Rocky fan as I am and after seeing that trailer, means I can't fucking wait to see the movie. Tjhat trailer was awesome and Rocky is back!

God that looks awful.

"The computer simulation has a lot of people curious."

If that's not the worst plot motivator ever, I don't know what is.

Talk about milking something for all it's worth. The first film is decent, sure. Hell, even the second one has a little worth to it. But here we are 20+ years later, Stalone is far too old, the character has been through far too much, and the movie itself just looks totally lame and devoid of any emotion, passion, or excitement whatsoever.

It's an absolute joke that they have this movie poised for a Christmas day release and a potential Oscar favorite. This flick is gonna bomb hard.

You're kidding right? This is ROCKY we're talking about, and it doesn't look like the lame ass Rocky V. Rocky's fan base is huge and they're gonna flock to see it.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The trailer starts off with that nostalgia factor, but as the plot and plot motivators are made clear, it becomes apparent that this movie seems quite stupid. Unimpressed and uninterested.

You guys are nuts, that's an awesome plot twist and a very cool way of pursuading him back to the ring. I'm all for it!

I like the fact that Rocky's going to be a legitimate underdog again. I mean, from Rocky III - V, was there really a chance in hell he was going to lose?

Monotreme
07-11-2006, 07:14 PM
Oh honestly. It's not like there's a chance he was going to lose in the first one, or in this sixth installment. Unless Stalone goes all "old-guy depressive" on us like Clint Eastwood did, in which case, we're all in for one helluva surprise.

I wouldn't say that adam, I don't look forward to Uwe Boll movies. The real truth is that I don't judge a movie until I've seen it as many judge it before they've even seen it. I look forward to every movie that looks good.

As well, I've been a Rocky fan since I was 6 years old.

LAAAAAAAAAMMMMMEEE!!!!

This was UN FUCKING NEEDED. I don't give a fuck about Rocky anymore, I don't even care if he dies, because this is still unnecessary, NO MATTER WHAT. Just like Indiana Jones IV, just like Jurassic Park IV, just like so many sequels being made nobody cares about, this serves no purpose but for nostalgia, a nostalgia that isn't that strong, believe me.

Looks pretty good. It won't be as great as the first one but I could still be great.

I hate myself for not being there at the art museum to for myself Stallone running up those stairs one last time though. I could have seen it with my own eyes, but I freaking missed it. Damn it.

Looks lame. Should bomb. Is there really that big of a fanbase looking forward to it for years? Yeah, the same thing was said about Superman Returns.

Looks shitty. But then again, I haven't seen any of the ROCKY movies yet (I know I know) so I don't have any left over "excitement" stemming from my love of one of them or anything...

But yeah, the trailer made it look pretty average I gotta say.

the clever guy
07-12-2006, 02:16 AM
so.....why are they judging this fight off of a 'fight night'-style simulation? lame idea...
the one thing i do like though is how they're playing his age into this(i guess it was kinda not needed to be mentioned), but there's just one minor detail i didn't see in the trailer....

the calostomy bag..

anyone? anyone?

as lame as this movie may be, i might be suckered into seeing this garbage...just as i was with m:i:iii and x-3 (i'll admit, i did wanna see them both, but i regret doing so)

I think the Rocky franchise needed one more film after Rocky V which would have been a terrible way to end such a great franchise. I do hope this is the last Rocky movie and the franchise can go out on a high note. And from the looks of the trailer this looks like a huge improvement over Rocky V and a fitting ending for Rocky.

Looks really stupid because Stallone is like a hundred years old. I hope he didn't break his hip or anything making this.

Then again, so is Harrison Ford, so, let's hope he wont break his back if he ever does Indiana Jones IV. ;)

Aw, come on. Harrison isn't that old. He's a young guy....well, at heart at least. :D

Why are you giving Ford the benefit of doubt but not Sly, even though he is younger and more fit and healtier than Ford any day of the week?
People haven't given him a chance since God knows when. You are judging a movie 5 months before it's realese, obviously some people have already made up their mind, and it's sad that they are wasting their time commenting how much the movie will suck or how much the entire series sucked.

I personally will enjoy this movie, I'll probably will pay to watch it 2-3 times (never done that before), just to see Sly on the big screen again, ehere he belongs.

Well said !
I have watched the trailer several times now. This movie has heart.
I just feel it.
Anyway, we will see in december who's right and who is not.

I gotta admit; I thought it looked good. Rocky's not trying to hide the fact that he's old, but he misses the ring and that computer simulation (liked the ESPN anchor cameo - nice) got him thinking.

My interest has been sparked to this movie - maybe I'll check it out after all.

Sly is in pretty damn good shape for being "a hundred years old". He's only 60, in fact, and from the looks of it he's in better shape than most 20 year olds. I'm even willing to bet that he could out-do anyone on this board when it comes to physical activity (and I type this while eating a cheesy bean and rice burrito).

That aside . . . . .

"Rocky Balboa" looks awesome. Count me in for opening day and then some.

Bwahahahaha, man that's such a good fucking plot device. A virtual fight between Rocky and a boxer. That's not ingenious or clever, that's the dumbest fucking thing I've seen.

HEY GUYS I DID THIS SIMULATION OF MICKEY ROONEY SKYDIVING LET'S MAKE HIM DO IT!

I don't know why everyone is being so critical of the movie. It looks like a pretty interesting flick. I'll be legitimately surprised if Rocky wins in this installment though.
