It has a plot kinda-sorta similar to The Illusionist..
But this looks just as good, if not better. Count me interested.

I'm so psyched for this - the movie's looking great from that small clip but I can't wait for the full trailer to come out...

The problem is while the first 90 percent of the book is great the climax is unresolved, abrupt, and completely unsatisfying. I really hope they fix that.

This looks much more impressive than the Illusionist. I'll definitely park my ass in the theater to watch this sucker. I mean who doesn't want to see a movie with Wolverine vs. Batman? :)

that looks so damn awesome, this is now on my list of films to see

I love how Christopher Nolan is so versatile. Every one of his films looks completely different from his others, and now he's trying his hand at a supernatural period piece. Excellent, will be checking this out for sure, but I also find the attraction of Ed Norton and Paul Giamatti in The Illusionist irresistible. I guess I'll just have to see them both.

If they follow the first 90 percent of the book it will be awesome. I just hope they changed the non ending or prepare for disaster.

Looks wonderful. I really didn't know the tone of the film until now, i'm pleasently suprised.

Looks very intriguing though to be honest it doesn't look like it will be in the same league as Nolan's other movies (Batman Begins, Insomnia, Memento). But I'm definately there.

It can be in the league with Nolans other film. The storyline is just great that is until the crappy ending but up until awesome book that could make one of the best films of the year.

Jeezum crow, that looks all kinds of interesting. I look forward to the dynamic cat and mouse interplay between Jackman and Bale. I'm willing to give Nolan a chance again after he stumbled with Batman Begins. ;)

Booo for some reason the HD 1080i link on that page isn't working for me...maybe cause they just put it up, i'll check back in twenty minutes maybe and hopefully it'll be up...

Yeah, I want it in HD!
As for the trailer, FUCKING WOW! Can't wait!
JCPhoenix

Yeah so I checked back and the HD link is still not working...and I couldn't resist so I just watched it in normal QT for now and...WOW...this has been in my top five most anticipated movies of 2006 for the past year and so I was expecting a great trailer and they certainly delivered...the rest of 2006 is gonna be so awesome...A Scanner Darkly...The Fountain...The Departed...Science of Sleep...The Black Dahlia...Miami Vice...Babel...Pan's Labyrinth...Southland Tales (I know I know...but I'm still awaiting that cut down version...I have faith that he'll make something out of it)...and of course, this.
I know those movies don't have that much in common but for some reason this year seems to have a bigger abundance of the sort of darker fare as well as the fantastical or trippy stuff. Certainly that line-up above has me more intrigued than any of the past several years...
ETA: Oh and ahah, while those HD links on the apple pages don't work right now, here's some direct links to them I found on the IMDb boards:

The Young Son

Wow.
This movie is so going to rock!
The great thing is that it was written by the Nolan brothers as well. We all know that this combination can produce a masterpiece. This film has that edgy dark Nolan feel to it, and I can't wait to see it.

I wonder why Jackman isn't using his real Accent..would be much better.

What the hell, Bowie as Tesla?!
Either way, this has a great cast and looks great too. Fuck that piece of shit called The Illusionist, this looks like it'll blow that out of the water.

Ummm...becuase it's set in Victorian England so having an Australian accent wouldn't make any sense!

Also, I dunno if you read the front page news on JoBlo a couple days ago or not but according to someone who sent some info in, the characters apparently change accents in the book/movie for their different performances...

Agreed. But I'd rather he'd do a hint of American (doesn't sound too strong to me), than a full on Australian accent.

I'm not blown away. I mean, yeah, it looks cool. But I watched this and The Illisionist trailer the same night and they look nearly identicle. Same time period, same costumes, same "brown-ness."

True but the difference will be that "The Illusionist" won't be able to hold a friggin' candle to "The Prestige". I'm sick of Edward Norton. I'll only see it on DVD for Paul Giamatti and who can forget Jessica Biel.

How the hell do these two look identical, I've said it twenty times on different forums now.
THE ONLY SIMILARITY THAT THESE TWO FILMS HAVE IS THAT THEY HAVE MAGICIANS AND ARE PERIOD PIECES.
The stories are completely different and it's the stories that count.

Well, Volcano and Dante's Peak were totally differnt stories, but they were still just volcano movies.
I think they both look good, but John Q Public is going to be confused as hell. They're both about magicians who may or may not be using actual magic. Seems like the same movie to me.
