E.T. could become the second highest grossing film of all time

The top 4 are as follows.

1 Titanic (1997) -- $600,743,440
2 Star Wars (1977) -- $460,935,655
3 Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) -- $431,065,444
4 E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) -- $399,804,539

So, if E.T. makes about 60 million, it could pass Star Wars. Atleast, I think it will. Or are the earnings from the re-release not counted?

I was actually wondering the same thing.Does the grossing for the new E.T. count to the old?Or does it just begin a new grossing for itself?Does anybody know?

It counts. It counted for the Special-Edition SW films, anyways. I dont think E.T. will make that much though. It`ll probably pass TPM, but I dont know about SW. But than again, $60 million isnt that much.

Of course that table is not counting inflation. If it did gone with the wind would be biggest grossing film by a mile.

If you put the ticket prices of today when GWTW was released, you'd have the highest grossing picture of alltime!
