So who do you think should play Dr. Loomis in the new Halloween movie? I've got a different idea for a suggestion. How about David Ogden Stiers?
We know he can do an accent from his work on M.A.S.H. Also he's about the right age now and a decent actor.

Hmmm... After a little thought, I guess I would really rather they cast an unknown. As long as the guy can act, looks like Donald Pleasance, and has the accent down, I would be okay with him. I think casting a known actor in such an iconic role would be a mistake and I hope Zombie doesn't go that route. Now, if I absolutely HAD to choose a contemporary actor... well... let me think about it and I'll get back to you.

Brain Cox or perhaps Ewan Mcgregor?

I thought of another possibility last night. Patrick Stewart. He's British and an excellent actor. I can just imagine him saying those famous lines about the day he met that 6 year old boy.

How about Tom Wilkinson?
he played the priest in the exorcism of Emily Rose as the priest and in Batman Returns as Falcone, the mob boss...
He's a great British actor who could give us an intense Dr. Loomis

There is no replacement worthy. The very idea of Rob Zombie of all people doing a remake of this moving makes me seriously consider cutting all cinema out of my life. These people and their absolute lack of originality inhibits them from coming up with their own ideas so what do they do?: they butcher classic horror films. It's total bullshit.

Donald Pleasance breathed new life into every scene he was in during the Halloween films. No one could replace him. Personally the idea of a remake doesn't sit very well with me.

I'n not very happy with the idea of a remake myself. In fact I'm afraid Zombie will choose Sid Haig because he'll figure "Hey Loomis is bald... So is Haig. He's Perfect!". I hope that doesn't happen. I'm just praying this is a decent movie.
I created the thread to ask who you thought would be a decent person to play Loomis since it is happening. No one can ever replace Pleasence. But maybe someone could do the part some justice.

Well, I vote for Sid Haig. The man is a great actor and I would love to see his version of Loomis.

The photo was done as a joke for Sid by me a year or so ago, he seemed to get a kick out of it. Long before Rob got Halloween.
I think if he gets the part Sid would do a great job.
David Spade. Just for the fun of it.
No, but seriously......
Dr. Loomis- Ewan McGregor.
-Ewan is a genuinely good British actor. He'd have, at least, a reasonable amount of what made Pleasence such a good actor. He can deliver even the goofiest of lines with a straight face (George Lucas, I'm looking at you) and he shares somewhat of a similarity with Pleasence in both age and stature.

Ewan has that quality and alreadt had to fill the shoes of Sir Alec Guiness...I think he would aprouch the role with respect instead of trying to "claim" the role...
For me it's either Ewan or Brian Cox, I loved him in Manhunter, X-men 2, Brave heart, Bourne series.....

Carpenter wrote the part for him, but couldn't get him. He is a little older, but dye his hair.
Sid Haig - Hell no

I wouldve tried to arrange a sit down with Ben Kingsley as soon as Bob Weinstein threw the idea in my face
Ben Kingsley IMO would be perfect
Robert Englund was a good idea too

I definitely agree that no one can fill Pleasance's shoes. But If I HAD to pick... how about Patrick Stewart?

I like Patrick Stewart as an actor, but he isn't what I picture as Dr. Loomis.

It really wont surprise me if Rob Zombie goes with Sid Haig for the role of Loomis, seeing as he's worked with Haig before, and I'd be content with that. Ewan McGregor would also be a good choice.

There are a couple of Star Trek old boys who could possibly do a decent job of filling the shoes of Mr Pleasence, namely Rene Auberjonois and Robert Picardo. All the talk of Ewan McGregor just makes me think of one guy, Albert Finney, but maybe he's a little too old.
There is one other actor I can think of who is less well known than the three I already mentioned but who would be my choice for the role, that is, Tony Amendola. In case you don't know he played Master Bra'tac on SG1. He's an excellent actor with all the qualities required to play Dr Loomis

NO ONE CAN REPLACE DONALD PLEASENCE!!! I guess though I could say, that Sid Haig would be in my running at the top spot. Although I bet Rob Zombie will ask him if he does direct it, i'm thinking it and so are the rest of you. Don't lie.

Well this thread is pretty much pointless now that Mr. Alex De Large himself is in the role.

Intersting choice. He might be a good pick but it would definitley be weird seeing him in a Halloween movie. My pick would be Frank Langella. He has a very powerful dramatic voice I feel would be perfect for the Loomis role. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I still stand tall behind my previous post in that there is no replacement worthy of Pleasance...
BUT McDowell will DEFINETLY give it something awesome...not saying it will in anyway surpass, because it just can't do so to Pleasance, but I'm intrigued (being i'm such a huge Clockwork fan,and DeLarge is on my freakin' left leg for cryin' out loud)

McDowall as in the guy from Class of 1984? Cause he would be a pretty good choice. He was very believable. However I think he is deceased now. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.
