SON OF A BITCH!

I never guessed Panic Room would gross that much money! Well, thats a good thing....
Death To Smooch bombed biiiiiig time. Otherwise, nothing interesting this weekend...

Hooray! The Panic Room is a hit! I was really rooting for it to do well this weekend. I guess my final prediction of $29.7 million wasn't completely crazy. It is weird how it made the same exact amount of money as Blade 2 did.

I kinda figured that Death to Smoochy would bomb. Easter weekend isn't exactly the best time of the year for a dark comedy to come out.

Panic room will make close to 35 million. Good for Fincher. He needed a hit.'

...But where is LOTR? http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif

BTW, what are your predictions to the final tally of Panic Room? I think it will make 110-150 million. It's a thriller geared towards adult audiences, it's having good word of mouth and it's appeals equally to men and women... Films like that usually have long legs. I expect it to drop the standard 30% each week at first and then 10-15% a week...

LOTR isn't on there because it was only in 1,100 theaters. It probably still got a good boost from last weekend though, so I wouldn't worry too much.

WOW did Panic Room have great numbers on Friday. I thought it would do really good but I didn't see this coming.

Here's my predictions for PANIC ROOM over at www.leesmovieinfo.com (http://www.leesmovieinfo.com) :

Friday: 8.2 Million
Saturday: 9.8 Million
Sunday: 7.1 Million

Total: 25.1 Million

Boy was I wrong. Anyway, I'm really happy for it, the movie looks great. I see it finishing with 150 Million, it will have strong legs.

I was right about DEATH TO SMOOCHY, I knew it would bomb. I predicted it would have a final weekend gross of 6 Million, 7 Million tops. It looks like I was dead on.

THE ROOKIE will open better than my 13 Million prediction and CLOCKSTOPPERS will open lower than my 14 Million prediction.

BLADE 2 will be really close to my 16 Million prediction. I knew it would drop quite a bit.

I don't think word of mouth is that great. I've seen it. Nothing special. All the camera tricks in the world can't hide the fact that this is just another standard Hollywood thriller. The other reason I think this movie won't hold up as well is the amount of competition geared towards the same crowd in the following weeks. You have HIGH CRIMES, MURDER BY NUMBERS, FRAILTY, just to name a few. HIGH CRIMES, especially, will take a huge bite out of its audience next weekend. One more thing: the summer season is just around the corner. It seems to start sooner every year. It's going to be tough for PANIC ROOM to hit the century mark with so many new distractions every week.

...But that's exactly what the mainstream audiences want. They want a safe, tense movie that has a bit more artistic quality than your average thriller. That's what Panic Room promises and delivers. The important point about PR is Jodie Foster. She is a very liked star personality, especially among women. That's why the film will have good legs. The female factor is going to boost the B.O for this film.

Horror Whore's What Lies Beneath comparison is dead on. Michelle Pfeiffer made that movie for the general audiences, despite the "cameo" of Harrison Ford.

Panic Room kicked ass, and most critics loved it, and so far a vast majority of the people who have seen it have rated it in the 8 - 10 range. I'm happy it did so well... It deserved every buck, plus like someone already said Fincher needed, and also deserved a hit.

I think they should have advertised it more. I really heard nothing about the footage, until I saw the SMALL ad in the paper. If they released some more TV spot, II'm sure it would have broken the top 10.

Yea for David Fincher and Panic Room.Fincher finally gets his hit and Jodie Foster gets another "big" movie besides Silence of the Lambs.

Ouch for Death to Smoochey. What the hell happened here?Robin Williams,Danny Devito, and Edward Norton could only come up with 4.3 millon. Can you say first big bomb of the year. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif

"Jodie Foster gets another "big" movie besides Silence of the Lambs.

Let's not forget that Contact made more than 100 million in USA alone. "Anna and the king" was her only film in between.

its not the first big bomb of the year. Slackers, Rollerball, Sorority Boys, Hart's War, etc. have had some of that proverbial bomb pie. but where's Resident Evil?
