Worst Sports Injury Ever

For me it has to be Clint Malarchuk getting his throat cut by a skate while he was a goalie for the Buffalo Sabres. If you've ever seen the video it's just brutal.

Oh yeah, that takes it for sure. I'm not even going to click the link because I just don't want to see it again. If I'm gonna watch some dude get his throat slashed, it better be Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, or some other horror movie dude doing it. I don't want to see the real thing, thank you very much.

If I remember right, the skate blade actually knicked the jugular, but didn't quite slice it wide open. He was apparently 1/4 of an inch from dying.

I remember seeing replays of a football game where a player became a quadriplegic after having his spinal cord partially severed. I don't remember the guy's name, but I remember seeing the hit and him not getting up. It was hard to watch - and it was a replay of the event.

i remember that throat slash , they showed it on the news back then , pretty gruesome for a 16 years old :D

he pinched his own jugular to prevent massive blood loss ( and certain death )

Yeah, it wasn't quite as brutal as I remembered...I remember another NFL leg break where the QB was hit right in the knee and his leg bent backwards (he looked like a flamingo). Wish I could remember who it was.

Sid's leg break is definitely nasty, but I dont know if its as bad because LT forced Theismans leg to bend and break and then he got piled on by the rest of the linemen. Sid's leg looked nasty as hell but how do you break your leg like that giving a big boot from the top rope? Here's the link.

I'm not sure but I do know it was a career ender. He hasnt wrestled since.

Yeah, that definitely killed his wrestling career. I read somewhere that he told the WCW heads that he didn't want to do that move because he had been having ankle trouble. I guess they didn't listen...after the break they totally broke kayfabe and killed the match right there. Steiner was definitely worried about Sid, and it showed.

Poor Sid, I hopes hes doing alright wherever he is. He never had a lot of talent but he had tremendous presence in the ring with his physique and blonde jerry curl. My fondest memory of him is when Shawn Michaels introduced him as his new bodyguard after Kevin Nash went solo.

It almost looks like he pops it back into place, the leg breaks then he pushes his leg against the mat, the camera swings over to Steiner and when it comes back to Sid his leg looks somewhat normal again.

Alex Zinardi losing both legs in cart series race. If you see the way the other car slices through Zinardi's you'd swear he would have been killed on impact. Another bad one, though obviously nowhere near as bad, would be Alan Smith breaking his leg and dislocating his ankle playing for Man Utd against Liverpool.

Gaddamn that was fucking painful to watch.... Having had a compound fracture of my own leg (bone coming through skin) I know that hurts like a motherfucker.... I'm wondering if that was the type of break or not?

I've seen a football player break his leg so bad it popped out of the skin and the bone was actually stuck in the ground...I will NEVER forget that. And did anyone see that vicious hit Peyton Manning took last week? And then he stayed in and threw 3tds!
