And the nominee's are...

* Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
* Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan - Ballad of the Broken Seas
* Editors - The Back Room
* Guillemots - Through the Windowpane
* Richard Hawley - Coles Corner
* Hot Chip - The Warning
* Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
* Zoe Rahman - Melting Pot
* Lou Rhodes - Beloved One
* Scritti Politti - White Bread Black Beer
* Sway - This Is My Demo
* Thom Yorke - The Eraser

Richard Hawley should walk it...Coles Corner is an instant CLASSIC and my favourite album of the year. The part-time member of Pulp has made a work of great beauty and Jarvis wanna be watching his back! Guillemots are good live but the album is somewhat lacking in spunk (ooh er). Hot Chip are pants, and the album is a pile of shite. Sway is no Dizzee I think it's safe to say. Hmmm, what I've heard of the Thom Yorke album has been so-so...nothing out of the ordinary. The Editors are poor Joy Division wannabes and suck huge amounts of cockage. The Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan effort is perfectly lovely but nothing to write home about and to be honest I don't really care about the rest.

Last years winner was Antony & The Johnsons...a TRIUMPH I must say! Past winners include Dizzee Rascal, PJ Harvey, Pulp and Franz Ferdinand.

Oh and The Arctic Monkeys aren't really my cup of tea, but I appreciate the fact that they are a decent band...especially when you consider their tender years. Plus their latest video stars Paddy so they aint all bad!

I've only heard six of the albums nominated there but my favorite out of those would probably be Guillemots - Through the Windowpane followed by Editors - The Back Room. The Guillemots album is (so far) my favorite album this year...I'm a sucker for sweeping soundtrack-like music :p...

It won't happen, but if Muse win, it'll be just fucking hilarious.

I've heard the Thom Yorke album and the Muse album. Muse is ok, but Thom Yorke should never make another solo album again.

The Eraser is the second best album of the year.

It took me about 3 listens to fully grasp it, but I cant stop putting on my stero.

It's has some great songs, but it has some filler, too.

Could make my top ten, though.

Muse on the other hand... :p :o

How so?

Artic Monkey's are going to win unfortunately even though I like them.
The Eraser is a great album and it's nice to chill out to but I wouldn't of thought it would of been nominated for the Mercury Prize.

I hate the wankers who pick the albums for nomination. Mercury Prize is about getting people recognition that need it. They nominate a few new bands and then cram it with big 'made' bands that are just there because they are who they are.

Saying that the bigger bands never win but I think they could nod to newer, needy bands other than Muse, Thom Yorke, Coldplay, Oasis (last year)

It's on now, and FUCK I missed Hawley...my hope for this years prize.

Guillemots did a nice live performance, and the Monkeys interview was really endearing.

I hope one of the above takes it.

If Hot Chip or Yorke grab it I won't be best pleased, I think they are the weakest noms this year!!!

Hawley just had a teeny clip playing with Pulp...cool!!!

I'm pissed that I missed the show. I'll have to try and download it (shouldn't be too difficult) or mayble it'll get repeated.

Arctic Monkeys won it, right? Good album, not my favorite though.
