I'm looking to expand my horror collection with 80's horror films. Ones that reek of the 80's. The: hair styles, soundtrack, original score, way special effects were then, clothes, and cinematography etc.. Please suggest LOTS and LOTS of films 'cause: I've already got some, some are out of print, and some have yet to come out on R1 DVD. Thank-you.

Nobody mentioned The Blob (1988), now that's classic cheese.

Why hasnt anyone mentioned Return of the Living Dead? That is hardcore 80's.

Killer Klowns From Outerspace, the original Sleepaway Camp and Re-Animator, The Evil Dead/Evil Dead 2 are all must-sees. But I doubt you haven't seen them already....seeing as how they're all classics and you're a horror-lover.
EDIT: I haven't seen all of the films listed, but I must say that 976-EVIL is a terrible film.

Come on guys, why has everybody overlooked Return of the Living Dead ? It's a classic! Also, I hear The Blob '88 is an 80's film (duh).
I also have to reccommend Fright Night and The Lost Boys , both way cool smells-of-the-80's movies.

I was never really a big fan. I mean, it's an okay flick, but definitely a tad overrated.

Near Dark is worth mentioning just for the awesome and somewhat dreamy sounding Tangerine Dream score.

Oh, I love Tangerine Dream. We have all their stuff. I love the soundtrack scores but my favorite is Logos.

There's a lot of good suggestions in here...mixed with some really bad ones! But bad can be fun too.
One of my very favorite Lovecraft adaptations was
FROM BEYOND.
It's rather hard to find now, i know that NetFlix doesn't carry it, although i've emailed and asked them to add it. Supposedly there's a director's cut with some lost footage but i can't find it.

Pretty much everything worth watching has been mentioned but I will throw out "Night of the Comet" for good meassure. Great 80's cheese....zombies and Valley girls all the way!!

I saw that last year after remembering it from my childhood. It couldn't hold up well enough in my book, although it had some interesting parts. I'm hard to please though.
