Well, opinions about the movie Wolf Creek are pretty divided, but I think one thing everyone can agree on is that John Jarret's acting was pretty phenomenal.

If you don't think so, you should get hold of the DVD and check out the interview with the man himself. It's really fascinating to hear his interpretation of Mick Taylor and some of the behind the scenes stories.

Anyway, I just thought I'd reccomend that particular feature to everyone. John Jarret rules!

I finally saw Wolf Creek on DVD a few months back and I actually enjoyed it, naturalistic unrelenting horror at its meanest. John Jarratt, as Mick is unforgettably creepy, turning in a gruesomely sadistic powerful performance. When we first meet Mick, he seems extremely likable, the nicest guy in the world. Which is one of the more scary aspects of the film, is that you can see yourself sort of liking this guy, it is when he reveals his true twisted cruel nature things take a turn for the worse.

Mick Dundee this guy AINT!

8/10

i really liked it.

it's a bit slow but the characters are pretty cool so it doesn't drag too much.

People have said the same thing about Takashi Miike's 'Audition' but I find the horror when it comes, like 'Wolf Creek', is actually more intense when you get a chance to actually like and care about the characters. And Mick represents the perfect slasher villian to me. The trained hunter doesn't come running screaming like a madman at his prey, but lures it over slowly like coaxing a squirrel with a nut, getting it to trust him so it doesn't expect a thing. 'Wolf Creek' is smart horror that taps into all kinds of different emotions from it's viewer. Good stuff.

Ah, yes story and character developement...something that is lacking in the majority of the genre films pumped out of the ass of hollywood. Thank God, the independent spirit is STILL alive.

Speaking of 'Audition'---a film I have yet to get around to, although I did see some very FD up clips from the film. I saw a copy of the uncut DVD SE at one of my local video haunts this past week for like $4.99----Ok, I'll admit it. Based on the clips of sadisctic torture of that poor guy I had seen--- at the hands of that sick bitch, I am not sure that I could actually take it---jeeze I sound like a wus!!!!

Drop whatever you're doing and go pick up 'Audition' right this second. Stop reading this and go get it now. You won't regret it.
It's a fascinating, smart, twisted movie that deserves to be in your collection. You'll thank me later.

Yeah, I must say that Audition excels in the department of getting you to really care for the characters and then hitting you right in the soft spot.

I must say, I found 'the scene' excrutiating to sit through. Not often I get that from a movie... which is why I liked Wolf Creek as well.

I went back to find that the DVD of Audition was (to my amazement.) still in the shop (let's face it $4.99 beats the MALL price of $25.00) I'll be checking it out tonight, then give you my thoughts on it.

I hope I can sleep tonight ;) after seeing this film...
