Few weeks back i'm channel hopping through the music channels in search of something that i've not heard before that might cheer me up some. I settle on 120 Minutes...a late night music show on MTV2 that features two hours of left field indie sounds. It was a riff that skewered my attention as surely and securely as a hook in the mouth of a fish and reeled me in. I waiting in earnest for the name of the band to pop up on the screen at the end of the video...fingers crosses that I wouldn't be so unlucky as to have happened across such an amazing song only for MTV2 to cock things up and fail to telegraph the name of the artist and song (it does happen). So as the song grinds towards it's conclusion I discover that the name of the pervy little ditty is Dead Funny and the band responsible are The Archie Bronson Outfit. Cool.
Fast forward a few weeks and i'm in possession of the album, Der Dang Der Dang, upon which that song resides. And i'm in love with this band. Immediately head over heels. This is exactly the kind of simple groove based rock album i've been looking for. I'm not gonna lie. It's a little samey from start to finish. But crank up that volume and you too will find your foot tapping to a sound that comes on like the demented offspring of a drug fueled orgy involving Sons And Daughters and 16 Horsepower. I'll post a couple of songs in a wee while. This gets my highest recommendation.
