yes!!! i just heard of this band!!! while listening to sirius radio. literly turned my car around and went stright out to the record store and bought King Diamond/mercyful fate greatest hits!!! and can't put these cds fucking down!!!

King Diamond is probably the greatest metal vocalist of all time. Mercyful Fate ARE one of the greatest metal bands of all time. You can't go wring with anything the King put out.

I just got into these guys. Holy hell do they kick ass. I've only listened to Melissa by Merciful Fate but I plan to give the other albums a go shorty.

King Diamond is EXACTLY what I love in my metal. Dark, gothic, and horror oriented. Abigail, Them and Conspiracy are all great, great shit. While Abigail is considered their best I actually love Fatal Portrait the best.

No really childish so much as just silly. It's kinda like when you were young and thought an Aliens vs Predator vs Terminator vs Robocop movie would be totally awesome.

To me, King Diamond is like the Uncle Rico of metal: stuck in 1982 and thinking he's cool. He's like a goth kid that never grew out of that phase.

King Diamond as a persona (I mean his look and the fact that he takes himself so seriously) is kind of laughable.

But having said that...Mercyful Fate was cool if you`re into kitschy goth/metal.
