I know it's a matter of taste, but let's say DELIVERANCE would be a hard sell in the situation. Share your experiences. The first movie that me and my girlfriend since almost 8 years saw was THE MASK with Jim Carrey.

ALMOST FAMOUS and BEFORE SUNRISE are great first-date movies!

Also, if you're trying to get into his or her pants...FEMME FATALE would probably do the trick!

Seven was the first movie me and my girlfriend saw together.

Moulin Rouge was a good one to see together. I sort of want to her to see Requiem For A Dream just so I can see her reaction to it.

A nice romantic film, such as Sleepless in Seattle, Casablanca, or Gone with the Wind.

2 of the 4 I was going to put. Great films both. I'd also suggest The Princess Bride and Say Anything.

It all depends on their personality as well as the mood of the evening. It can range anywhere from Say Anything... to A Clockwork Orange. I know some girls who are in love with American Psycho and not only because of Christian Bale. One of them loves to describe the scenes from the book that were cut from the film...such as the part with the rats...ugh

For me I would choose:

Say Anything....
Jerry Maguire
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Manhattan
Annie Hall
Husbands and Wives
Casablanca
Monty Python's Life of Brian
Gone with the Wind

I'd say BOYS DON'T CRY or I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE... Nah, I'm just kidding. Seriously, I'd have to say WHEN HARRY MET SALLY, KISSING JESSICA STEIN, AMERICAN BEAUTY, or maybe even THE RING, THREE TO TANGO, or ROMY & MICHELE'S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION.

But one thing's for sure, a girl that don't got no love for KISSING JESSICA STEIN ain't gettin' no love from me ;).

I wouldn't show her Kissing Jessica Stein that soon Mike...she could get some "ideas". :D Anyways, Jerry Maguire and Almost Famous are always good choices.

A lad after me own heart...

I was formulating a list in my mind...and saw this and thought "...did I already post?!"

The above are nearly all GREAT date movies, aside from Husbands and Wives (which I haven't seen), Casablanca (not my favorite) and GwTW (too goddamn long for a date).

The rest are all brilliant choices...with the small addition of:

High Fidelity
Almost Famous
About a Boy
and
Benny and Joon

Haha, yeah, maybe you're right. I should get her hooked first. Wait, actually, maybe then she would decide to run off with another chick after we'd already been in a relationship for awhile. So, maybe it would be best to show her Kissing Jessica Stein right away, so if she wanted to run off with another chick, she could do it right away before I wasted any time on a relationship with her.

Or you can just not show her the movie and not risk anything ;)

ALIENS or TRUE ROMANCE

A man is not a man unless he can appreciate the fine art of "romance" defined by acid spewing aliens and Bill Paxton being Bill Paxton, or James Gandolfini beating the tar out of Patty Arquette.

HEATHERS is a nice alternate. The we rip into TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 4, GRAVEYARD SHIFT, BLOOD FOR DRACULA, and FLESH FOR FRANKENTSEIN. A healthy mix of boyfriend testing material.

On our first date, my then future-wife saw two movies, The Swan Princess and the Lion King. Both are good date movies IMO. Also I would throw in Beautiful Girls.

Ooh, Frankie and Johnny as well. Tormented, painful, but at the same time ever-so-romantic and sweet.

Oh, yeah, Al Pacino in that film...oy vay...he makes my young heart flutter.

Unless he/she's too slow to read subtitles, but then that's his/her problem.

Yeah, when i go and see a movie with a new girlfriend, i'll take them to see something generic, that i think she and any fucking Joe Public would like!
But then, when things maybe get a bit more serious, i put her to the test.
I see whether she has the patience for a foreign movie. I can't stand the amount of ignorant people that are out there, that are missing out on absoultely brilliant movies, just coz they don't like reading subtitles...or they just don't like foreign movies.
So she has to be willing to watch them, otherwise she's out!
She has to like at least 6 out of my top 10 movies otherwise she's out!
And last but not least, she better have a decent top favourites otherwise...yup, you guessed it...she's out!

I'm harsh...and maybe that's why, my relationships never last very long...hmm...i'm so lonley :(
