I am certainly sure that the majority of the schmoes on the board here have a top ten. And if you don't you will soon. Anyway, I was thinking about my top ten favorite films of all time, and it got me thinking of the actors that were in the film. So, I was wondering, out of the actors/actresses who are in your top ten, where did you first see them, film wise? My top ten is:

1.) The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) 10/10
2.) American Beauty (1999) 9.9/10
3.) The Usual Suspects (1995) 9.8/10
4.) Fight Club (1999) 9.5/10
5.) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) 9.5/10
6.) Donnie Darko (2001) 9.5/10
7.) Frailty (2001) 9.0/10
8.) The Silence of the Lambs (1991) 9.0/10
9.) Braveheart (1995) 9.0/10
10.) Reservoir Dogs (1992) 9.0/10

So, from here I will name one or two (oh, hell, even three, of the actors in the said films and say the first films I ever saw them in).

Reservoir Dogs: Unfortunatley, the first actor that comes to mind is Steve Bucsemi, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I mean that as in the first movie I ever saw him in was Armeggedon (c'mon, I was 12!)
Braveheart: I think of Mel Gibson. And the first movie I think of when I think of him as a child was Lethal Weapon, which I loved as a child.
The Silence of the Lambs: Anthony Hopkins. Acutally, this was the first movie I ever saw with him in it, and I can understand why he earned the title of 'sir' and why he earned an Oscar for this roll.
Frailty: I think of Bill Paxton, and the first movie I think of with him in it is Twister. When I was 10, I wanted to be a storm chaser. I thought that would be the coolest career. Hell, I still think that would be a badass career.
Donnie Darko: I think of Jake Gyllenhaal. I first met Jake as an actor in the film October Sky, and that is still one of my favorite films.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: Of course, I think of Jim Carrey. And when I think of Jim, I cannot help but think of Dumb and Dumber. I grew up around this movie. Shit, when I was 7 I was quoting this movie. I used to go to Christmas parties with my family and be the light of the evening with my brother when I would quote this movie.
Fight Club: I think of Brad Pitt. When I was growing up, my dad's favorite movie was A River Runs Through It (which eventually turned me on to Robert Redford).
The Usual Suspects: Unfortunately, The Usual Suspects reminds me of Kevin Pollak, not Spacey or del Toro. I don't mean for that to sound bad, because on of the first films I ever saw Pollak in was A Few Good Men, however, the first movie I ever saw Pollak in was House Arrest, and when I was 9, I loved that fucking movie.
American Beauty: Another fantastic performance by Kevin Spacey, and another movie that does not first remind me of him, only because I saw a film with Thora Birch first (which was Patriot Games.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King: Now, LOTR series had a lot of 'firsts' for me: Orlando Bloom, Billy Boyd, Cate Blanchet, and especially Viggo Mortensen. But the first actor in this series of films that I can remember from childhood movies growing up was Sean Astin. I was born the same year The Goonies came out, so he was one of my childhood favorites.

So, yeah, try to think of your favorite all time films, then think about the first time you saw some of the main actors on screen for the first time. It is pretty interesting.

Interesting thread. Here goes:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Jim Carrey - The Mask, I'm pretty sure.
Kate Winslet - Titanic, which at the time was the only mainstream thing she had done.
Kirsten Dunst - Jumanji.
Elijah Wood Flipper :P

Schindler's List
Liam Neeson - I don't think I saw Schindler's List before 1999 (I was 10 years old, so you know...), so The Phantom Menace.
Ralph Fiennes - This movie, and now he's one of my favourite actors.
Ben Kingsley - Gandhi, which we watched in the 7th grade in history class, I believe.

The Empire Strikes Back
Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and the whole cast really - Star Wars (A New Hope). Both films were childhood favourites of mine, but I'm pretty sure that regardless of my young age, I saw the first film before Empire, but I really can't be sure. I was 5.

Magnolia
Tom Cruise - Hard to tell, but I'd imagine Mission: Impossible.
Julianne Moore - The Fugitive, another film from my (later) childhood, but I'd seen it before The Lost World, so yeah, I think The Fugitive.
William H. Macy - He was in Air Force One, right? If so, then that.
John C. Reilly - Chicago. Yes, I saw that in theatres, and yes, I hadn't seen Magnolia yet at the time it came out.
Philip Seymour Hoffman - Twister, I do believe.

Pulp Fiction
John Travolta - Grease :p
Bruce Willis - The furthest back I can remember is The Fifth Element, and I doubt I saw Die Hard before that.
Samuel L. Jackson - Jurassic Park
Uma Thurman - Gattaca

American Beauty
Kevin Spacey - A Bug's Life
Annette Bening - Mars Attacks!
Thora Birch - Patriot Games

Star Wars
Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and the whole cast really - This film. This is one of the first films I distinctly remember watching.

Forrest Gump
Tom Hanks - Big
Robin Wright Penn, Gary Sinise, Sally Field and the others - This film. This was also one of the earliest films I remember watching, since early childhood, but I also distinctly remember Big (and Sleepless in Seattle, actually) before Gump. In regards to Hanks.

The Shawshank Redemption
Morgan Freeman - Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
Tim Robbins - The Hudsucker Proxy

Fight Club
Brad Pitt - Seven Years in Tibet
Edward Norton, Helena Bonham Carter - This film. I first saw it a while ago, and Norton and Carter hadn't done work on this caliber quite yet (in terms of "mainstream", although this isn't exactly a mainstream film either, but definitely more so than Carter's old Mercheant and Ivory pictures and Norton's indies).

powersauce

Ferris Bueller - I saw it on a local UPN affiliate when I was 15 a decade after it came out although I saw that "damaged Ferrari" scene on Showtime at my uncle's house 4 years after it came out.

Matthew Broderick - I remember seeing parts on Biloxi Blues on HBO and Showtime when I was little.
Jeffrey Jones - I saw Beetlejuice when it first aired on HBO.
