1. The "through the cupholder" shot in PANIC ROOM.
2. The "through the waste basket" shot in FIGHT CLUB.
3. First 20 minutes in SNAKE EYES
4. "Running in the maze" shot in THE SHINING

Neither of those were actually steadicam shots, they were CGI special effects. There are a ton of great ones, it's pretty much a given that if you have a long steadicam shot, you've got a great shot, but my favorite would be the long steadicam through the back and kitchen of the Copa Cabana in GoodFellas.

Thanks for the info. Then the DoP certainly fooled me. I read some interview with Fincher saying that the steadycam shots for Panic Room was hell to plan and perform.
But I do agree that the walking into Copacabana in Goodfellas is brilliant, and so is the first scene in Boogie Night, from the street and into the disco palace.

Agreed. Nothing tops that one, but I think Martin's long walk down the hall, down the aisle and into the ring w/ Jake La Motta in Raging Bull comes close.

The best have been named, but I remember a very subtle, yet great steadicam shot in the office Wesley Snipes works at in Jungle Fever.

Garrett Brown the inventor of the Steadicam did the steadicam work in The Shining & Wolfen and many more great films.
White of the Eye the Director of Photography Larry McConkey is first and fourmost and Steadicam Operator has some amazing work on this film and main other films and has work with Demme quite a few times.
Full Metal Jacket there's this magnificent shot of the unit heading up to the buildings and one man goes in front of the other man and the Steadicam was used as a Point-of -View shot.

PT Anderson is the master of steadicam shots. Definitely a god of filmmaking already.
