Being a fan of Rob Zombie's movies and a huge Halloween fan i can't wait to see what zombie is going to do with the franchise. I know he'll treat the series with respect and give it 100% to make it the movie to change the series around for the better. Nothing will ever beat John Carpenter's first movie but this new one will come close as possible. On another note how great is john carpenter? I bought the 25th anniversary edition of Halloween and rewatched the fog last night and nobody knows how to build tension like carpenter. His movies keep you interested from beginning to end. I would put him in the top three greatest horror directors of all time next to romero and raimi. Anyone agree?

I agree with John Carpenter being one of the best horror directors of all time but I don't agree with Rob Zombie doing the Halloween franchise any justice. Letting Zombie get anywhere near making a Halloween is a recipe for failure. I hated the first two movies he did and I'm certain he'll find some way to fuck up this one. Nobody should be allowed to remake the original Halloween. Period.

The thing is that like Chainsaw, Halloween is a bloodless movie.
The Saw remake was Jason with a skin mask and a chainsaw...the preqeul was in my opinion much better, but still did not capture the unrelenting madness of the original, without the help of gore...
Now I believe that Zombie will make a nice entertaing horror flick aimed at kids who like gore, if he will try to make a suspensefull movie without gore...he will fail,he canīt create mode without setīs or props, chooses lousy actors and most importantly recreates shots from a thousand other movies....
We will have to wait and see...

Thank you for saying that. Zombie definitely relies heavily upon recreating scenes from other movies. Just look at the opening scene to The Devils Rejects, dirty farm house, pig head on a post, dead rodents hanging from chain link fences, what bullshit.

I hear you...I dont'get all the praise he gets for his flicks, the cinemathographer should be praised, as he at least makes his flicks look good....as for his "art'...
All of us forget that they are fan's just like us and just like us, an original idea come's once a life time...stay of the classics and create your own icon's....

How about Captain Spaulding. I'd say he's a pretty cool original icon created by Zombie. Not to mention Otis and Baby, Sheriff Wydell, Charlie, the list goes on. You can say what you want about Rob Zombie, i understand that people either love him or hate him but when it comes to characters and icons he's original. Captain Spaulding ( Sid Haig) is one of the coolest characters ever in not just horror but in any movie. Just for creating the Spaulding character you have to give Zombie credit.

I don't know if I'd say Captain Spaulding is an icon. I mean lets face it, that character isn't exactly up there with the likes of Michael Myers or Freddy Krueger or Leatherface or Jason Voorhees. Those characters are horror movie icons, not Captain Spaulding.

Captain Spaulding is a cool figure but the flicks are not about him..,you can't be a good filmaker if you just have ONE character that stands above the rest...His chick and Bill Mosley should not have been cast in lead roles...
One hit amongst a thousand misses is not much of a hit...
