i didnt see any similarity between the films.....maybe i need to watch Phibes again

One of the surgeon's sons is strapped to the medical table under a very slow dripping acid. The key to release him from the table is buried in his chest near his heart. He has, in theory, has about 6 minutes to complete his task.

Also Dr. Phibes describes himself as being already dead.
