Honestly. We all know Hollywood has lost creativity by remaking everything under the sun because they cant come up with original scripts anymore. But now, they cant even come up with original titles. Some examples:

1995 - Man of the House
2005 - Man of the House

2005 - Employee of the Month
2006 - Employee of the Month

2004 - The Girl Next Door
2006 - The Girl Next Door

And what really bugs me is, like with Employee of the Month, is it's pretty much within a year that a second movie with the exact same title is coming out. Why didnt they change the name? Didnt someone in Tinseltown stop and tell them, sometime during production that "hey, wait, there already is an Employee of the Month movie, it just came out."?

Hollywood just keeps getting more and more unoriginal all the time.

You could say that we are at the crossroads.

I can't believe it took them that long just to use those titles.

Well I'd rather have them use names like that then, say, that new Samuel L. Jackson movie Black Snake Moan, which aside from being extremely suggestive is just a shitty name altogether.

This thread should be a two-parter that extends over into the music section about rap song titles.

You forgot Jersey Girl... I think the first one was made in the early 90's or something... And then of course Kevin Smith's flick in 2003 (which I LIKED! :p)

Well, it's not like a lot of these movies have made their titles proud. A lot of them barely made it through two weeks at the movie theater. I don't think it's that big a deal - since not only were the titles lame and unoriginal, but so were the movies.

And to note that the new Girl Next Door is not a sex comedy, but a murder mystery. Quite different from its predecessor; I think that will make a difference.

Don't forget Crash (1997-2005), Kicking and Screaming (1995-2005), and Running Scared (1985?-2006).

I don't think the whole originality bank is tapped actually. Is a Dallas movie really necessary?

Roger Corman wil tell you, more original ideas work out better financially.
