After watching 2001 Maniacs for the second time on dvd i realized something and that was that this is a really awesome horror movie. I bought it because i'm a big Robert Englund fan, i watched it and thought it was pretty good. I put it back into my collection and it remained there for a few months before i decided to give it another watch. I'm going to the Weekend of Horrors in Jersey this weekend and Tim Sullivan is going to be their so i figured why not watch the movie again. For some reason the second time around was way better. The special features are cool also. You really get to see how much of a horror fan Tim Sullivan is and how passionate he was directing the movie. The death scenes were insane, especially the one where the girls limbs are tied to the horses and well you can guess. I recommend this movie to horror fans, it's fun ,gory, has lots of hot girls and Robert Englund. Not to mention a cameo by Eli Roth which is pretty funny.

It was pretty good, I'm starting to like it a little less though. Personally I think they should have left the John Landis cameo in the movie. I think Landis is great.

I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I blind-bought it pre-viewed and figured I'd end up hating it. Pretty decent flick with some delicious special effects and a twisted plot.

I am going to Weekend of Horrors this January in San Jose. Was it good for you? Did you like the convention?
I know there will be 2001 Maniacs reunion.

It was a pretty fun movie. Nothing too thought-provoking, but a way better throwback to the days of old than either of Eli Roth's films.

I must say I was pleasently (if you can associate that word with this film) with 2001 Maniacs. My only complaint was it felt a bit soft core pornish, loved the Eli Roth cameo, seeing as he was the same Justin as Cabin Fever and I can't say what else I liked or it will give away too many spoilers and I hate doing that, but yes indeed it was a good film.
I would also highly reccomend Rest Stop. It's a bit slow but it keeps the tension and it kept me glued. Which is what I like.

I thought 2001 Maniacs was a hoot and a half...I cracked up laughing through most of it. But I felt that was the point so I just went with it...

Yeah, I saw this film. Awesome death scenes, good story, and all around a crazy @ss movie(Don't want to give much away).
Start Spoiler:
Justin and the Doctor's cameo was great and who doesn't love Robert Englund.
End Spoiler:

Loved the film, except for one thing: the lead male character. Honestly, he bugged the shit out of me for the entire movie. I literally wanted to jump through the screen, punch him in his kidneys, and laugh. Not to mention that he looked like a reject from N*Sync and was way to damn overglossed.

I found this movie to be pretty damn fun and entertaining. Recommended for fans of ROBERT ENGLUND or campy un PC horror. There is a sequel scheduled to come out this summer titled Beverly Hellbillies which I'll be looking forward to. Tim Sullivan returns to direct and ROBERT ENGLUND, Lin Shaye, and Christa Campbell will also be back. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Some fun kills and gore...but as a whole, and in the end...it flat-out sucked the big stack of hay.
This movie was grabbin' alot of hype before its release,so maybe thats why I was so letdown, but it also just wasn't my type of flick...
I deifnetly would NOT recommend it...

Something a bit odd about the upcoming 2001 Maniacs: Beverly Hellbillies. I was looking it up on IMDB a couple days ago and ROBERT ENGLUND is no longer listed in the credits. I looked up ENGLUND'S page and this movie is no longer listed in his filmography. The movie is currently set for an October release. I just hope Mayor Buckman will still be in it. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

bad film, aside from some nice gore the acting was painful to watch, the script was laughable and the characters were flat out annoying

Out of all the low budget straight to dvd movies that have been released recently, this one seemed to have the biggest buzz! Everything I read in FANGORIA bigged it up and every website showcased this bitch! I heard it from a friend it was shit so my expectations were low.
I enjoyed it. I heavily appreciated the gore and nudity, and ENGLUND was a suitable twat for his role. It honoured the 80's camp slasher flicks and nodded at the grindhouse era which I lapped up. However, my one main disppointment with films like this is that they're never scary anymore. The directors aim for cheap laughs and even cheaper thrills (some cool fx gags etc). But where's the atmosphere and sense of foreboding fear and terror that cheaper movies like THE BURNING delivered in bundles? :(

Yeah, the movies from the 80s tried to be scary but didn't realize they were being cheesy. Filmmakers today are thinking they are too smart to fall into that same trap so instead of trying to do pure horror they do the wink, wink horror. I feel this type of change in the atmosphere happened once Scream broke down all the cliches. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.
