Norman.

Most unsuspicious guy out there.

The Thing scares the shit out of me. You can't trust anyone. ANYONE.

Hell even in that scene near the end with the blood samples people were afraid that they were really an alien.

That's fucking scary shit. Of course after that Freddy. As a kid that Pockets full of Posies song used to freak me out.

I went with Michael... He's a quiet stalker who's fucking relentless and fucked in the head....

Also, I think for this SPECIFIC poll (more looking at the word "terrifying") I would think that Pinhead's a pretty disturbing motherfucker, from his appearance, to his god complex, paired with his innovative ways of killing people.... He's pretty sick.

Gotta go with the guy who wears his victim's faces for a mask...Leatherface!

I don't really find any of them to be scary.

But Freddy is my favorite.

Well, he's far from my favorite, but I suppose Freddy is the scariest because there's no avoiding him...even in dreams.

Leatherface. Because he seems more realistic than the others. If you see a 7 foot dude in a butcher suit running towards you with a chainsaw... what the FUCK would you do...?

I totaly need MacReady to get his ass in here and defend me.

:D

Seriously though, imagine ANYONE you talk to could kill you. ANYONE. It's even possible that YOU are an alien.

BTW, Icabob Crane is Johnny Depp's character. The movie's protagonist.

Don't you mean the headless horseman?

ON THIS LIST: Freddy just due to the fact that he is so powerful in his little dreamworld and you can't avoid sleeping. The Thing comes in second for me, I'm going to back Gordon up on this one.

The uncertainty of your best friend, mother, or anyone at all being turned into this uber-killing machine is just flat-out horrifying.

NOT ON THIS LIST: Pennywise.

Simply because he is always your biggest fear. The movie supposedly was very scary to some, but I'll always love the book much, much more.

I know people hate this when polls are done but I have to name my two top all time favorite slasher movies that arent on that list.

1. American Psycho
2. From Hell

From the list, I'd go with Norman :)

I'll say Freddy cause there is no avoiding him. You can run away from Jason, Myers, Leatherface, etc. etc. and if you keep running, you'll get further and further away from them. However, there is no way to avoid Freddy. You would have to avoid sleeping, which is what everybody not only does regularly anyhow but also what alot of people do when they are stressed, unless of course your stress is coming from the fact that Freddy is waiting on you to sleep.

Plus, cause of his manipulation, if you find yourself tired on the verge of going to sleep but suddenly pop back awake, you might not be aware if you are actually in reality or in a dream.

myers
he has the face, has the music, has that presence and even if he usually only caries a knife, it just doesn't matter, it's scary shit. At least the first movie movie goes. I'm rating all these guys based on the first.

kruger is 2nd, cause of the creativity behind what he actually is.

Now I put Leatherface, But now that Norman's on the list, I would put him.

I picked Norman just because you never saw that coming. That's the worst kind.

Leatherface - I agree what someone said about him seeming the most realistic. He's not like Michael or Jason who walks around slowly and silently and seems to always inevitably catch the victim. This guy runs around like a fucking mad thing, screaming and grunting and waving that chainsaw around like a true fucking psychopath!!

I never knew so many people found Michael Meyers so absolutely terrifying.

Hannibal21

My pick is the seemingly shy, nice boy next door, who just happens to be a complete psychopath:

Norman Bates

Freddy would be a close runner up.

Gotta go with the original unstopable killing machine, Michael Myers! closely followed by Leatherface and Jason.

I put in my vote for the shark in Jaws. It's stuck with me since I was a kid. :o

Michael Myers. The fact that he doesn't make a single sound, not even a grunt when he's getting fucked up and the fact that his mask seems to never even move is scary as shit. Also very quiet and has a tendency to sneak up on people.

Leatherface.
I mean, just thinking of the meaning of his name, Leatherface, is terrifying.

Michael Myers (but only from the first two movies)

I'm also doing a write-in for Billy from BC. He was insane as all get out, and those phone calls were the scariest thing in the movie.

For the subject of the poll I would Say Krueger... As many have pointed out, you can't hide from him... you have to sleep eventually. But my favorite is Leatherface :D

I actually put Jack Torrance from The Shining first because he's someone you know and love . . . your own husband and father. Imagine if you came home one day and your father or husband suddenly wanted to kill you!

So here is how I rank them:

1. Jack Torrance
2. Alien Lifeform (The Thing) - You can't trust anybody because the creature can be anybody!
3. Norman Baites - The nice stranger you meet in a vulnerable situation who seems to genuinely want to help . . . then dresses up like his dead mother and kills you in the shower! Woah!
4. Freddy Kreuger - You can't run from him! You can't hide from him! Everyone has to sleep eventually!
5. Leatherface - He has a lot in common with the other slasher killers, such as Michael and Jason, but he simply comes off as more real. The other two move slowly yet always seem to catch up to their victims. Leatherface is how a slasher movie killer would behave in real life. He screams and grunts like a psychopath while running toward you in a blood-stained butcher's apron, a mask of human flesh, and weilding a chainsaw! I would certainly call that scary!
6. Michael Myers - As others have stated, the man is completely silent and unexpressive. There seems to be no humanity behind that mask, which makes him seem more merciless and relentless.
7. Pinhead - He's not really scary, but he's certainly disturbing. The "man's" an evil, supernatural sadomasochist.
8. The Shark (Jaws) - Although Jaws is scarier when you don't see him, the shark is inately scary because we are not naturally meant to be in the water, and we all know how very helpless we are while swimming. Plus, Jaws is a relentless super-shark!
9. Jason Voorhees - He isn't scary, but I certainly wouldn't want to meet him!
10. The Mutants (The Hills Have Eyes) - They aren't scary, but they're such extreme horror villains that they certainly leave an impression.
11. Chucky - His movies were always more of the "fun" type of slashers then the scary ones, although he was quite menacing in the first Child's Play.
12. Ichabod Crane - I think you meant The Headless Horseman, Sonny.

I would say Leatherface, because he sprints after hit victims. Unlike Michael or Jason who walk like .01mph. Seriously, unless I was trapped in a house with Michael or Jason, they would never catch me. But Leatherface on the other hand, runs like a wild man, with a chainsaw, which I imagine would be worse than a knife.

Sadly enough, I've never seen any of the texas chainsaw massacre movies...but leatherface does look pretty "terrifying"...I have to add the clown from It to my list, the puppet from Saw and Freddy Kruger...even though i love his personality/punch lines.

I can't believe I'm the only one who voted for Chucky. I'm still afraid of dolls to this day, because of the mental scarring that creepy little fuck left imprinted on my psychy.

although he not the scariest Jaws represents the most relentless unsympathetic killing machine of them all
