Thanks to www.dvdactive.com

Warner Home Video has announced the October HD DVD releases of V for Vendetta starring Natalie Portman. It will be available to own from the 31st October, and should set you back around $28.99 a piece. Each will feature a high definition presentation, along with Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 soundtracks. Extras on V will be identical to those on the retail DVD, albeit with an additional 'in-movie experience' - in which director James McTeigue (along with members of the cast and crew) trace in detail the V Saga from graphic novel original through the movie's execution.

Though I cannot afford a HD TV yet, I might as well start getting dvds in HD. But I have a question.

Will HD dvd play as a normal dvd picture on my standard non progressive tv and dvd player?

I once owned a progressive scan dvd player and my dvds looked like crap because my tv doesnt have progressive scan. Would a HD dvd give me problems with image on a non HD tv and non HD dvd, that are also non progressive scan?

Did that all make sense? :D

I have had this one circled on the calendar for quite a while. :) HD DVDs will not work on your SD player. Both will work on the HD DVD player though. To bring out the full potential of you HD discs, you should invest in a HDTV.

I'm affraid you might be waiting years for a winner IMO.

Actually I love the cases the dvds come in. Being more compact, they aren't a bulky as the normal dvd cases. Having more shelf space for your collection is a must for alot of us collectors.

^^ Blah couldn't agree with you less. There is no denying that these cases are a HUGE step down from dvd.

At a current count i have 1,189 dvd's some i gigantic cases like my jap. alien had collection and i can see what you mean about shelf space as i have alot of them piled on tables but i still love the look of a dvd case not just whats in it. theres a thread here titled dvd box art purity and i could have said this there but what the hell right. i think its all are but if it all resebles the same design then its just a copy. i love having something unique.
