Region 2 DVD Problems..

I am pretty sure I have a region free dvd player because I have several foreign dvd's that used to play on my dvd recorder but now they no longer play. Anyway, I ordered a dvd off of the UK Amazon and it won't play on my dvd player. Any suggestions??

Where are you based?

The problem might not be your dvd players regional settings but rather a problem with the encoding of the film. In the UK they use PAL whilst in the US they use NTSC. UK TVs/DVD players are normally always NTSC compatible whilst not all American ones are.

Amazon are usually pretty nice about returns so if is an encoding problem they should let you get a refund. (British consumer rights rock!)
