I am sick of the 'shaky camera syndrome'!! There are some good movies out there, like the second Bourne movie, which shake the camera constantly for some odd reason and it makes me, literally, sick! I get motion sick easily, so I can't watch it for very long. Battlestar Galactica does the same thing and it just distracts from the overall story. I'm only concious of 'they're shaking the camera" and I lose the storyline totally.
Anyone else hate this kind of thing? Anyone else get sick from it?

I remember feeling dizzy watching minority report at the cinema.
I don't hate all shaky/handheld camerawork but it can be done very badly.

Actually my problem is that I can't follow the story if I'm extra concious of the camera. I lose the story totally because of some show-off camera work.

Narc opening scene uses fuckin badass shaky camerawork. It really adds to the grittiness of the scene.
I can understand how it can give some people a headache though.

I hate the shakey-cam. The excuse for it is that "It makes it feel like you're there!"
Bullshit. I know that no matter what I am doing, be it participating in a 100 mph car chase, beating up spies, or invading the beaches of Normandy - my POV doesn't rattle and shake like that! I can clearly see everything nice and smooth - the way the human eye was meant to work.
Shakey-cam is just another way to hide special effects.

It can be incredibly effective when its done correctly. But just really annoying and coming off as trying too hard when done poorly.

Agreed.
Plus, they didn't overuse it to a point where it got annoying. It was just long enough to stay shocking and disorienting. Not dizzying.

And here I thought this was a rant on I believe the Sonic or Carl's Jr. (can't remember which) commercials, where it shows some hick-ass, inbred fuckin' redneck practically molesting a fuckin' cow, to show that he's shaking the milk before it's applied to the shake, so their milk shakes are indeed, shaken.
It's one of the most ridiculous, bizarre, nonsensical, agitating, bullshit fucking commercials I've ever had the mispleasure of enduring, and once someone tells me (or I remember) which restaurant it was for, I will make it a POINT to NEVER go there again, because of their poor advertising campaign.... FUCK that commercial!
But, I guess I was wrong. :o

The only time I can appreciate it is when it is on The Shield. And I agree with the Narc example as well. That movie and the Shield have a nice connection actually, lol.
