A Clockwork Orange has always been my favorite Kubrick film and I had always forgotten to pick it up on DVD whenever I went to the store. For well over a few months now, I've been looking to find it and had been having the worst luck ever. NOONE HAD IT.
Well, I finally looked it up on DVD Aficionado and apparently all of the DVDs have been discontinued. Are they planning some sort of Special Edition or has this wonderful and classic film been discontinued on DVD?

a couple months ago in a forum between digitalbits.com and the dvd production guys at Warner Brothers, it was announced that warners was not only working on A Clockwork Orange SE, but also pretty much all the other Kubrick releases (2001, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining would definately be getting them, unsure about Barry Lyndon or Lolita (Dr. Strangelove already has a great 2-disc S.E. out)) they also said the inevitable Eyes Wide Shut S.E. would indeed be the "unrated, original cut" aka. the European version with the orgy scene in all its complete uncensored glory
so yeah thats why im not getting any of the kubrick films just yet

They're re-releasing a few films from the stanely kubrick collection in two-disk sets (2001, Full Metal Jacket, Clockwork Orange) come November. Wait it out.

If they're anything like some of Warner's previous S.E.'s (average features, no picture or sound upgrade) I'll just stick with the current versions...

Nah, they're just giving them new packaging. Someone complained.
Do not remember where I heard it, but the new "2001" includes cut space footage set to some other composer. :salivating:

Sounds interesting. I have yet to own 2001, so I might check it out. Like I said, I was so dissapointed with their previous re-releases... Sure the documentaries on HEAT were interesting, but the film was the same as on the previous release, just recompressed. I mean, if Warner could remaster King Kong to look like it did, can't they put a little effort and get rid of the dirt and such on the print? Kubrick's films actually look surprisingly well for Warner's low picture standards, at least by what I've seen.

Is there an official release date on these special editions? I'm still holding out for The Shining and Clockwork.
