Will there be (in the future) such a thing?

Hard to tell, but it doesn't seem too likely.

Sony Pictures doesn't have a reputation for releasing one version and then later on releasing a 2-Disc S.E.? Is that why you don't think it's too likely to happen?

P.S.
I was somewhat disappointed by the box cover. I was hoping for a 3-D lentricular box cover or something as cool and hi-tech as that. But all we got was a low-tech "interactive" wheel thing.:(

I'm looking to complete my copy. Would you be willing to trade that slip cover (must be the widescreen edition) for a used copy of Pretty In Pink the first release? Thoughts?

I don't think a Monster House double dip doesn't seem likely because, yes, they don't double dip that often (from what I could observe), and there are rarely double-dippers on animated films (think about it).
Plus, the dvd seemed too bare to think there is more that they have.
That's just what I think though...

I think they are going to wait and see how the dvd sales returns turn out and then determain from there...thats how many distributers do it...but I am happy with the edition that is out now...cause it was a blind buy, but I'm a sucker for almost any new s.e. that hits the shelves.
