Now, I'm not a Saw fanatic, I'm just looking for a good way to get the films, so I can watch them with a friend before seeing the third one. I don't want this to turn into a "Saw sucks" thread, as I'm only asking the opinion of those who own or have seen both editions of both movies as to whether or not the "Unrated" cut is worth a damn. I know whether or not I liked the films, so that's irrelevant. So... are the unrated cuts worth a damn?

I agree. SAW uncut shows a little bit more blood when Amanda has to find the key and Dr. Gordon sawing away. And as far as I can tell with SAW II, the only thing I noticed was Jigsaw eating some cereal when he appeared first. I'll have to watch it again and see if I notice any other differences. I'll watch them back-to-back before I see SAW III this weekend, and I think it's a good idea to have your mind fresh and pick up those little things you know they're gonna put in.

I just wanted to get my thoughts in, in case this turns out to be yet another SAW-bashing thread.

Also there is a short film of the original Saw on the Saw uncut version. It's pretty cool!

Thanks for your thoughts. I agree, I didn't really wanna start a debate, I'm just going with some friends, and I wanted to know if I should really care or not, since we're just refreshing our minds on the movies.

I only own the Saw 1 Uncut edition, and I didn't notice much of a difference in terms of new footage. But I think the features (and the awesome DVD package) is worth the double dip...but I'm a huge double-dipper, so it's easy for me to say it's worth it anyway.

...I'll be getting Saw II Uncut sometime next week, hopefully.

Well, being I just wanna watch the films and they're not something I really care about the bonus features (I still haven't found anything as rewatchable as the Alien saga's bonus features), I guess that pretty much means they're not worth it and I should just pick up the cheap versions.

I find the features on the R-rated versions are great. So I can't imagine how good these are. I might have to buy both of them. It's just neat to see how a low-budget, kickass film like these get made.

My version of Saw uncut has fake blood in the cover that oozes around when you move the dvd. :D It's awesome.

I picked up the "uncut" SE of Saw last year because I enjoyed the movie, wanted my girlfriend to see it, plus the package was really appealing. I ended up digging the making-of stuff as well as the original short film.

Saw II I thought was just average, but I actually picked up the SE today just to have it as part of my collection, plus I'm hoping the bonus features are good as with the last one.

Saw 1 Uncut is like.. 7 seconds longer than the theatrical version and some scenes supposedly have a different color or shade... i dunno.

The best change, and only really noticeable one in the Uncut Saw is that the crappy metal music in some scenes is replaced by the original score. Makes it much tenser.

Damn, I've just realized I haven't seen Saw or Saw II since I saw them in theaters. I do plan on buying all the movies in the franchise - eventually - of course, that depends on how many the franchise plan on spitting out. I always go for the SEs of DVDs - they're usually better.
