What DVDs (which film and which version of it) Special/Bonus Features taught you more about film making than any other you have ever seen? Please be specific!

I'd have to say the behind the scenes material on Alien taught me a great bit. A lot on the road to getting it done, a lot about effects work, a lot about actors, how to shoot a scene, and how to make sure your vision isn't compromised (save one ludicrous ending that I'm quite glad was changed and never even shot).
Also the all the bonus material on The Lord of the Rings Extended Editions is very informative, but more if you were making a blockbuster film.

I really like the features on the Die Hard With A Vengeance s.e. dvd. It really showed a lot about making an action film. Also the film "My Voyage to Italy" was really good too.

Well the first feature length commentary I listened to was on Terminator3 and I just found it soooo fascinating. The director really went into detail, but was entertaining to listen to as well! I would also say the extras package that was the most educational was all the commentaries on the Lord of the Rings extended editions.

Just for clarification, so I know what to look for when shopping.

By "Alien" you mean the very first film? And as to what version, do you mean the S.E. (I think it could be called) that was released after the Quadrilogy box set was released?

The LOTR Extended Ed.s are the ones that are 4-Discs each and look kind of like a book from the outside, right? (Parden my ignorance.)

Yeah, the first one. The S.E. released later has the same contents as Disc 1 and 2 of the Quadrilogy, so either way, it's the same thing.

And yeah, the 4-discers are the Extended LOTR.

probably the best special feature about film making that ive seen is for a small british horror film called Written In Blood which has an excellent and very informative documentary about how the makers went from nothing but a script and a few thousand pounds to getting funding and actually making the film

its the only extra ive really remembered ever since i saw it

i'll post some more if i can think of any

Full Tilt Boogie on the SE of From Dusk Till dawn is a very informative making of documentry. I also very enjoyed the making (or not) of Don Quixote which was an absolutely heartbreaking story and echoed all the production problems I've faced while making short films.

I really dug the 2nd disc on The Devil's Rejects and most of the special features on the Halloween 2-disc edition were extremely helpful to me.

I'd also like to tip my hat to Bob Plisskin for mentioning Full Tilt Boogie, it was a great behind-the-scenes documentary.

Please folks, limit your choices to bonus features/documentaries that taught you more about film making than any other you've ever seen. Thank-you.
