Why didn't somebody tell me this set was soooooo deluxe? That the original theatrical posters where included etc.? ;)

P.S.
Considering the fact that it was released in '99, does it being that old mean it's in danger of being discontinued and replaced by a "new" boxset soon?

P.P.S.
If I'm not mistaken, all (or most) of the 1st Edition/Generation of DVDs have been replaced (so to speak) by the Studios with subsequent Editions therefore...

Because you didn't ask or maybe didn't do enough research? ;)

I didn't research it 'cause from the outside it didn't look this impressive and 'sides it used to be expensive . :D

P.S.
Until recently I wasn't "into" the NOES series that's another reason I didn't ask and or didn't do research re. this box set.

P.P.S.
I thought someone here would know me well enough to recommend it to me, that's why I started this thread.

Is your copy from outside Region 1? It doesn't look anything like my R1 copy of The Nightmare On Elm Street Collection 8-Disc box set.

Pardon my ignorance but who's "Miko Hughes"?

I believe the box set is now been discontinued (indicating a possible new box - but IMO probably just replacing the first Nightmare On Elm Street disc with the recent Infinifilm Series OR the box set is being replaced with a bilingual version!?)

SRP was $124.95 for all 7 films...

I think that's the booklet that comes with the set.

He played Dylan (Heather Langenkamp's son) in New Nightmare.

Yeah it really is a great set. Even several years later, The Nightmare Series Encyclopedia is an amazing supplemental disc.

The cover art is something to appreciate too, since the individual versions have some pretty ridiculous cover art. The only thing about the individual releases of each film is that they have the option of viewing a widescreen or fullscreen version of the film, which the box set versions are lacking, for whatever reason. But really, not a huge deal.

BTW this thread inspired me to look up the specs on the new infiniflm edition of the first Nightmare, and I was wondering if anyone knew if the audio commentary is new or just recycled from the older DVD?

Glad to see someone (besides myself) who treasure's "original theatrical posters" being used for a film's box cover art! :)

I got mine for $94.61 CDN (taxes included).

I checked with HMV just the other day and their database said it's still orderable.

Yeah, and some people like the option of being able to choose from full or wide.

It's time to get on that brother, what in the world he waiting for your holding one of the best DVD box sets out there, including I guess the matrix box set. And very nearly in the future, the ultimate Superman 18 disc or what ever crap it's going to be called.

I just bought this box set and would like to know... do the 3D glasses serve ANY purpose?

Derek237

The film Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare has a 10-minute sequence at the end that was originally in 3D in the theatres, and up until the DVDs you couldn't get the 3D version to save your life (kind of like Friday the 13th part 3). When you select play movie it will ask you if you want to view the film with the 3D ending or not, but if you just want to watch it on its own, you can do that too, it's in the special features.

This was one of the reasons I was excited about this set. But, unfortunately, the 3D is pretty lame. It really doesn'twork that well at all, and only two or three shots even look slightly cool.

That said, during the time when I got the set, I loved the 3D glasses and became almost addicted to looking up 3D images and even trying to make my own. But let this serve as a warning to you all. It says on the glasses: DO NOT WEAR AS SUNGLASSES, and damnit kids, you better not. I wore the glasses too much, and to this day, I can still see things with a faint tint of red and blue in my eyes, especially when it's really sunny out.

I loved that they used the original art for the covers. More movies should do that seeing as how the theatrical posters are SO much better than the crap DVD art.

I doubt there will be a new boxset any time soon.

Just as good as they did in the theater. I remember sitting there when the movie started wearing the glasses and nothing working until about an hour into the movie for about 15 minutes. Come to find out after the movie that the glasses stated not to put them on until the end dream sequence. Wooo that was fun.
