When I was younger, (I'm 28 now) I still remember to this day exactly how this day went down, but I went to a friend's house to play as usual, and on the boob tube was this incredibly scary movie that sent shivers down my spine. I had never really seen a scary movie before, so I rode my bike home as fast as possible and asked my dad if I should stay at my friend's house to watch it or just stay home. He didn't seem to care, he just warned me that it's fine now in daylight, but when it gets dark, I'm probably going to feel very differently....well, I went back, and ended up watching Nightmare on Elm Street part 3, THEN A Nightmare on Elm Street 1, THEN part two, back to back to back....again, these were my first experiences with horror. Needless to say, that night, I was literally frozen in bed, shaking, could not sleep, and this seemed to go on for mounths....I thought I was safe, but my 13th birthday was approaching, and I thought I was doomed. Before being a teen, I knew that Freddy only killed teenagers in the movies, so I was home free, but I dreaded my 13th birthday that year, that's for sure....My point in all of this is that these movies are wonderful, the character of Freddy in the first couple sequels at least is amazingly original, and major props need to be given to Wes Craven for such an original idea in horror. That is what horror needs now, is an original and creative idea to make us feel scared again. Thanks for reading.....

Hey keln57;), You're right, Hollywood needs to come up with something that will scare the crap out of us again, instead of re-making stuff that's already been done. That's incredible that you remembered all the details of that day; wish I had a memory like that...but I don't and I'm 23, which is kinda sad lol, but anyway, I believe my first horror movie was Jaws.

I remember when I was five (I'm 24 now) I went over my friends house who lived in the house below mine and seeing the scene with FREDDY'S skeleton from THE DREAM WARRIORS. To the best of my recollection this may be the first time I had seen a NIGHTMARE movie although I may have already seen the first one. It's hard to say after all these years. Needless to say though it left an imprint on me. Those were the good ole' days. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I love these kinds of threads...since i'm such a dweller on memories haha.

I first saw the Freddys just in random clips on USA and such, but I'd always wind up just watching 2-3 minutes and either getting scared or just wandering around my house to play with my Power Rangers figures or such, haha.

I recall the FIRST scene ever for me,was the scene in Part 3 where Joeys making out with the hot nurse and the bed falls into fire...after that I still really never got heavily involved with this series until I was a HUGE horror geek at around, age 8-9...keep in mind I've been introduced to horror since a VERRRRRY early age.

Dream Warriors was my first rental of NOES and I loved it so much because of the awesome artwork/cover (which I intend to get tattoo'd on my leg, sleeve style).

To this day I hold Dream Warriors high due to the childhood love I had for it.

Yeah but WHAT AN INTRODUCTION! Seriously though, I think that scene sticks out in peoples heads more than anything. A couple people actually asked me "Is that the one with the hot nurse?" when talking about it. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.
