Rankin is my favourite photographer. He takes lots of portraits of celebrities among his other work and they are always brilliantly posed, uterly striking and show off the person to their very best advantage. Here's a very few examples of why I love his work.

Madonna 1 (http://madonna-gallery.com/albums/userpics/10242/Qmag.jpg)

Madonna 2 (http://madonna-gallery.com/albums/sessions/1998/rankin/0001.jpg)

Cate Blanchett [X24]

Kristin Scott Thomas (http://djuna.cine21.com/kst/Miscellaneous/Harpers&Q0903_1.jpg)

Kirsten Dust: Shoot 1 [X15]

Kirsten Dunst: Shoot 2 [X2]

Lilli Taylor (http://lili.net/lili/images/d&c1.jpg)

I'd post more (there's loads; The White Stripes, Emily Watson, Milla Jovovich, PJ Harvey, Tori Amos that I'd like to post) but it's taken an AGE to source even these few. You can see more at www.rankin.co.uk

As for the thread... well, do you like the photographer and the pics I've chosen? Do you have a favourite photographer, post some examples of their work.

edit: bugger, the dunst and blanchett images don't work, I'll try again in the morning.

I love the Kristan Scott Thomas photo. That is stunning. I like beautiful and interesting photography. My old man used to do it when I was younger but i'm not a fan as in I could tell you my favourite photographer. I'm not at all knowlageble (sp?) on the subject. There's a few photo's I have seen recently that I loved. I'll search for them and post them with the snappers name.

Images all work now, Dunst and Blanchett link to galleries rather than individual pics though.

Scorpio, I agree, the KST pic is stunning (makes sense, she's gorgeous) but my favourite is the second Madonna pic. She looks awesome in all the pics in that shoot but that, I think, is the best picture ever taken of her.
