Questions about the Departed

Some spoilers, so dont read on if you havent seen it.











okay, so, i got a few questions about this movie.

i have some ideas about it, but i want to make sure.
1) The state building, what was its exact purupose, i think i know, but im not sure.
2. The envolope. what was in it, and what did it do.
3. Marky Mark. Did he kill him because he hated him or something?
4. How do they know Bill is a cop at teh end if his file was deleted?

I can answer some






















1) I don't know what you mean by the state building.

2) We never know what's in the envelope but since Dignam showed up at Sullivan's it's safe to assume the envelope had incriminating evidence against Sullivan which was passed on to Dignam by Madalyn.

3) He killed him because a) he was the rat but most importantly b) he instigated the murder of Queenan

4) Sullivan went on record to recomend the badge of merit for Costigan. Also, Dignam knew he was a cop and he was still alive.

i was thinkin the state building becasue it always shows it when mat damon looksat it, and the movie ends by showing the gold roof.

Its been a while since i seen the film but didnt the envelope contain the profiles of all the guys who worked for Jack Nicholsons character. Seem to think this was the case in the original also

If we are all talking about the envelope that had DiCaprio's writing on it, then yeah that envelope had the criminals personal information in it.
